I hated it when I visited, I think what makes New York wonderful is everything I have access to at my fingertips because I live here. Visiting just seems like it would be a really stressful experience. Maybe I'm in the minority here

I somewhat agree. The one thing I will never understand - ever - is how these people can handle doing this with their kids. I was walking by Central Park South yesterday afternoon and there were 20 or 30 people outside one of the hotels waiting for cabs or whatever and there's families with 2 parents and like 5 cranky looking minors - I couldn't even begin to imagine what a nightmare that must be for those parents. I do think, however that if it's just a single person or a couple it wouldn't be too stressful, unless you're one of those people that tries to do EVERYTHING there is to do in a place in 2 days. Walk across the Brooklyn bridge, head down to the south street seaport and take one of them sunset boat tour thingys, get some grub and call it a day.
To this point, I'm always conflicted about recommending staying outside of Manhattan. On the one hand, if you stay in Brooklyn or Queens, it will probably be cheaper and less hectic around your hotel, and if you are not familiar with cities this might be beneficial to you, especially if you are a light sleeper. On the other hand, if you are unfamiliar with cities you are probably going to be hopelessly lost with public transportation and therefore taking the train might be a problem. So it's hard to say. It also really depends on the person. The last visitor we had, the only touristy thing we did was take her to Coney Island
but she loved it, and we went by car so we drove along the BQE so she could see the skyline.
The only thing is I'm not sure what would be a better place for an international visitor to see on a first US visit. Ohhhhhh wait yes I do. Washington DC.

Pearl Jam has not requested any dates to be held at MSG, and they usually plan pretty well in advance (last time they held the venue 5 months in advance). As of this moment, they're not planning anything at the garden.
This increases Barclay's chances :ugeek:So, What you Giving ?........ (Thanks Speedy, Alesek, & Arq+friends)
