I've found a non-profit (actually 2) that just absolutely melts my heart following them every day. Please check out these two wonderful non-profits as they help rescue stray dogs and cats in Afghanistan and send them home with soldiers who rescue them or to families who adopt them.
I've created some incentive for donations over on Lost Dogs for anyone who likes rare PJ stuff!!

Donating would be great but just as good is sharing their webpages and Facebook pages on your pages and through your contacts as well. Let the exponential power of the internet (Thanks Al Gore! ) work it's magic here and help rescue all these furry, FAITHFULL souls.
I found out about these 2 amazing organizations after receiving a request from a soldier in Afghanistan asking for help in assisting him in raising funds so he can bring home a dog after becoming very much attached to him on a daily basis outside his base.
In The United States:
Soldiers' Animal Companion Fund: Based out of Seattle!!! (cough cough Pearl Jam!!)

In The UK/International:
Nowzad:

Thank you for considering/listening and please spread the word!!
