Washington (CNN) -- A border agent every 1,000 feet, every hour of every day, supported by 700 miles of fencing along the Mexican frontier.

No green cards for the 11 million immigrants living illegally in America until those steps and others to enhance border controls are taken. And none of it increases the federal deficit or debt.

(CNN) -- Authorities found four human bodies abandoned in the Arizona desert Thursday.

Initial indications point to exposure as the probable cause of death, said Victor Brabble, a spokesman for U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

"It is probable that they are immigrants attempting to cross into the U.S.," he said. "However, we don't have enough to draw a conclusion on it now."

  • Can't we just build taller walls to keep them out? And then have like a electric fences in the water to keep them away as well (forcing them to swim farther out, better chance of failure)?

I feel bad for our agents in the hot weather. They are doing a good job (sort of) but man it must suck out there. haha

I have both conservative views and liberal views and this topic is probably my most conservative. Gosh I hate illegal immigration. If you can't come here legally, then get the fuck out.

I don't understand how so many illegal ones get jobs here. Why can't all businesses require full documentation?

See, I sympathize for those who come here because of how horrible their past home was, but I just don't get why they don't do this legally.

It's my understanding that the people in charge looked the other way as long as it benefitted business owners and made it possible for them to have cheap labor costs. Maybe they were lobbied to do that? Someone will correct me if that's wrong.

can we have a reasonably accurate # of the undocumented that come across or are from Mexico.

Then I'd like to know how many came on some sort of Visa "legally" then overstayed thier welcome.

THEN I'd like to know just how much the businesses in this country have not paid in taxes for these undocumented who work the asses off to stay here. And WHY they are not being sought after and prosecuted for not paying taxes on their workers.

We'd have to get rid of the welfare state before we could have open borders.

Btw this border surge doesn't start until 2021, so basically it'll never happen.

we are not on the moon we are here on earth and we pay taxes we paid for and fought wars for those lines, if you have never been to mexico and seen the beautiful coast line 100's of miles of beach front property you can't own unless you are a mexican citizen or try collecting medical or or any other form of goverment funded programs or see what happens when you are involved in a car crash with no money on you..I think you might be happy to get back across the line, the whole world is divided up by lines why would the US just erase it's lines ? it wont happen here or anywhere else in the world.

Why the hell would anyone want to buy a beach front property in Mexico?! They would be literally surrounded by millions of Mexicans! They would have to drink the water and eat the food!... Their neighbors would, more than likely, be brown-skinned drug lords, or kidnappers... They would be hearing Spanish all day long (if you thought pressing 1 for English was bad!).

Either way, that changed recently... Foreigners can now buy beach front properties (as if they didn't already do that). So if anyone wants to "submit themselves" to what I just wrote, now you can do it legally!

they sey you can buy a 99 year lease in mexico but the people in los gaviotious just past rosarita back in 97-98 found out that the mexican government can change it's mind at any time and boot your butt out...and if what you say is true then mexico is aboit to change in a big way but really I doubt what your saying is true.

    Well, google is your friend...

I coud show you a bunch of links in spanish, from the last couple of months, but something tells me you would dismiss them... either way, I don't really care if you believe me or not. I just thought it was interesting that you were complaining about not being able to buy properties in this god-forsaken land... that's all.

    Anyway... carry on... I'm out.

While discussing this issue I'm always reminded of certain historical facts, including the fact that we stole it all from the First Nations Indians and Mexicans in the first place. Yes, as they, say, "That's history". But it's also true.

well not really complaining just showing the differances in government, and if what you are saying is true then I'm sure developers will be lining up to buy property along the coastal areas.

I totally agree with this and am against fences and guards.

I think if someone wants to come live and work in this country, it should be as easy to do so as rationally possible.

If the people that are currently here decide they don't like it, then it should be just as free and easy for them to go somewhere else.

I agree as well. Political boundaries have no basis in reality. The only true boundaries are geographic and bio-regional.

Of course if we have to have borders we could always do what Bill Maher suggests- instead of the proposed 700 mile fence, build a 700 mile Walmart on the border- employees enter from the back, shoppers from the front.

I'm not at all suggesting that all those against immigration are racists, that would be utterly ridiculous, like thinking all Muslims are terrorists, or those of other skin colour are on welfare or here illegally. I am making the comments on the back you what you and others have posted.

Not just founded on immigration, Moonpig, but stolen from American Indians and Mexicans as well. I'm not saying this to incite anyone here but rather to point out a fact I believe worth at least acknowledging.

Well, us immigrants who came and conquered have been paying taxes and speak the language spoken by the majority.

The ones coming here now illegally (whoever it may be, but mainly mexicans and other spanish-speaking countries), do not pay taxes and are failing to live by the law.

Yeah, we came here "illegally" but the past has passed and we are living in the present. We conquered the land, its ours. 8-)

I pretty much agree with ya, but as a history major in school (who has studied and will continue to study native americans) we pretty much screwed them over. It wasn't because they just wanted the cool things we gave them, we murdered them and took their land(unintentionally sometimes, like with disease) and in some cases we got them drunk so they handed stuff over easily. And we also became allies with them and we obeyed their trust (Plymouth Colony and the Wampanoags).

If I had it my way, I'd give the native americans a lot more land than what they got right now.

First of all, sorry godfather, Alaska was ripped off too- the Inuit had a long-standing truly sustainable relationship with the land and sea there. No more.

As far as Indians go- yeah, we owe them big-time. Things are a bit better on some reservations but for the most part they are still some of the worst places in America in terms of poverty, health, crime etc. We totally screwed their culture and decimated their population. It will never be the same. Obviously very few if any of us will give them our property- few of us can afford to do that and making oneself homeless helps no one. As a country though- yeah, we could do much much more. Americans either hate the Indians and Mexicans, do their utmost to ignore the problems, or act like wanna-be Indians which, if you read Sherman Alexie, Vine Deloria, Ward Churchill, Adrian C. Louis, Richard Rodriguez etc, you'll understand how ridiculous that is as well.

    Nice to know.

So these Mexicans, they pay no taxes at all?? I find that impossible to believe sorry. And how do you know it's mostly Spanish speaking people that flee to your utopia, I'd like to see an actual breakdown of those figures if you care to back it up.

Seems very ironic that we are talking about native Americans in an immigration thread, without there being some sort of punch line

Actually even if they aren't paying income taxes, they are still paying sales tax, not to mention property taxes are being paid on the places they are living. In places like the US and Canada, it is next to impossible to pay no taxes. I actually read an article recently about how even illegal immigrants in the US are a boost to the economy.

this should settle all debate, check this out Bro.

    http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news ... skull.html

But recent research, including the Baja California study, indicates that the initial settlement of the continent was instead driven by Southeast Asians who occupied Australia 60,000 years ago and then expanded into the Americas about 13,500 years ago, prior to Mongoloid people arriving from northeast Asia.

The skulls from Baja California, which may date back only a few hundred years, have slender-looking faces that are different from the broad-cheeked craniums of modern Amerindians, the descendants of the Mongoloid people.

sooooo I put my money on a military action/win.

A fossilized, cigar-shaped creature that lived about 520 million years ago has been unearthed in Morocco.

The newfound species, Helicocystis moroccoensis, has "characteristics that place it as the most primitive echinoderm that has fivefold symmetry," said study co-author Andrew Smith, a paleontologist at the Natural History Museum in London, referring to the group of animals that includes starfish and sea urchins. With respect, I do not call you a bigot because you disagree with me, I call you a Bigot because of the views you espouse. It's that simple really, I disagree with people all the time. You have a hate of a group because of their stated religion, it's not rocket science Godfather.

And yeah I played the racist card because to be fair, ignorance is infectious and rarely limited to one subject, and as you and others have demonstrated time and time again by some very questionable posts, this statement holds some water.

So not my concern that you agree with my sentiment or not, just calling it as I see it.
