Predictions for Mansfield II

edited June 2008 in Given To Fly (live)
Last show of the "mini tour", 8 year anniversary, a place they are known to enjoy playing at, played a relatively short show prior, a day off in between...it's not a stretch to speculate that something "significant" could occur tomorrow night. Maybe/maybe not.

Regardless, any predictions for tomorrow night? Whether you have inside info or just care to take a guess. Just curious what people are feeling for tomorrow, now that we are 24 hrs away.

ARC would be pretty cool. Saw a silhouette coming out to a barstool with a machine sitting on it (turns out it's some sort of looping device) as the lights went down to start the show in Little Rock 03. Ed started singing and pressed a couple buttons and it layered the song like the record. Best opening song I've ever heard and then they tore into Save You. Really got the crowd going

the whole curfew thing is so Boston/Massachusetts. Damn Puritans. And trailerpark people. It pains me to say but I tend to agree that they will stick to the curfew. Or will be somewhat forced to stick to it.

I'm not sure where I read this, but I think somebody who saw the set list for the encores said that Porch and Indifference were supposed to follow Alive but were not played, probably because of the curfew.

What about Mankind or Don't Gimme No Lip....Don't Gimme no...
I would also love to see Present Tense. Mansfield I 2003's version was so amazing to see. Patriot would fit the bill after another announcement about the Center's recruitment stations....
So many possibilities...so gonna rock. I can't wait!

I think you will see the band hit the stage around 8:30-8:40 or so, similar to MSG. They most likely WILL NOT go past the 11:00 curfew. Also, Eddie seemed very angry with the fact they had a Marine/Army recruiting booth as well as with the curfew. The set list may completely depend on his attitude and weather he just says fuck it, lets play the 2:10 minute setlist and get out of here, or if he says, fuck it, lets blow them away by coming out at 8:15 and playing the greatest show ever.

That being said, during the show, I think you will see a great variety from the entire tour, and it will be one of the better shows of the entire tour. It may not be Mansfield III from 2003, but it will definitely kick ass. Wish I could be there and too bad the last show wasnt on a Saturday rather than a Monday!

I predict that they'll play Even Flow.
I pledge to you a government that will not only work well, but wisely, its ability to act tempered by prudence, and its willingness to do good, balanced by the knowledge that government is never more dangerous than when our desire to have it help us blinds us to its great power to harm us.

Why not tell them earlier? It should be like after the first song, or even before they get on stage.

All I know is that I bet Wash, Habit, Rival, Education, and Satan's Bed will be played since they were all soundchecked on Saturday.
    32 shows and counting...

The truth: The venue use to be great but now it sucks. I have an informed opinion on the matter as I have averaged 3-4 Mansfield shows a year since the early 90's. Including the first time I saw PJ in 1992 at lolla' when we tore down the stockade fencing at the back and burned the wood in several bonfires during the RHCP closing set. (does anyone here remember that ??)

The Mansfield PD and Mass State Police have really cracked down, also the town government has come down hard on the venue due to rowdy crowds and vandalism during recent concerts. The sound does travel across the meadow and can be heard in the trailer park. This is the worst possible place for a trailer park, WTF ?!?

All this contributes to the problems of having a loud and insane 3+ hour show. However there a few outdoor options in New England.

My preference would be to have 4 shows at Meadowbrook a few hours north. Smaller shed (capacity 7,000) but a "Live Free Or Die" attitude, the police are not overzeleous and I believe the curfew to be more liberal.

WASH as an opener tomorrow. Can't wait.
