Because he'll probably be dead within a week.

Hopefully he'll get a little prison style payback beforehand.

Not me. I don't approve of violent retribution. I was just explaining Jason P's comment.

did i say "i take pleasure in someone getting beaten up or killed?"

firstly someone is not ariel castro. use his name, or refer to him as a monster, don't call him someone, he is no one. i am a someone, you are a someone, this dangerous freak is no one... no... one he is blank, he deserve nothing decent

secondly. in all truthfullness i may or may not find pleasure in putting this monster to rest. but i would surely step up to the plate if offered the chance to put a hole through his nasty ass skull. it may haunte me forever, good! he is a no one. he is a dangerous no one. he is not a victim. he is a dangerous, manipulative female abuser, a murder of a unborn child...his own child

the monster is uncontrolled. he deserves nothing at all ever to be decent.

    no one, a nobody.

For me, someone who kidnaps girls, imprisons them for years, rapes and inpregnates them, and then uses haymakers to the stomach as the prefered method of abortion ... well that's worth of a trebuchet volley into the volcano pit.

But he cut a deal and there is a shortage of trebuchets and volcanos pits as it is.

I think he should be the one looking over his shoulder in fear while he is imprisoned for a change.

    sounds like a plan

however, a nice speeding bullet to the head would really do a lot of good ... or the flowing lava pits of hawaii?

There should be no measure of comfort afforded to such a SOB. I don't think this is a case that warrants the DP... but it is a case where we really shouldn't get too worked up about the conditions this piece of shit must endure as he is- by the good graces of mankind- spared his life. If he gets roughed up in prison, some might think that is good and others might think it is bad... but aside from personal feelings which might differ... he's more than earned it.

After what happened... one shouldn't judge those that are hopeful for a miserable existence from here on just as one shouldn't judge those seeking to pardon or provide comfort to him given his offences. He's in fate's hands now and I'm comfortable allowing this to play out as it might just as long as he remains in prison until dead.

People shoot themselves in the head when they want to put themselves out of their own misery. I find execution barbaric and morally corrupt and ethically illogical, but I also find it way too easy a punishment. I prefer that criminals live and suffer in prison. That is way less pleasant than death IMO.

LIFE with NO PAROLE plus 1000 Years

    http://www.dispatch.com/content/stories ... -plea.html

CLEVELAND -- The Cleveland man accused of holding three women captive in his home for about a decade agreed to plead guilty today in a deal to avoid the death penalty.

In exchange, Ariel Castro would be sentenced to life without parole plus 1,000 years, prosecutors said.

Castro was in court this morning to enter the guilty plea. When asked if he understood he would never be released from prison, Castro said: “I do understand that, your honor.” He added, “I knew I was pretty much going to get the book thrown at me.”

Castro, wearing glasses for the first time in court, was far more interactive than in previous court appearances when he mostly kept his head down and eyes closed. During today’s hearing, he answered the judge’s questions in a clear, intelligible voice, saying he understood the proceedings and that he would never be released from prison.

Castro, who was born in Puerto Rico, said he could read and understand English well but had trouble with comprehension.

“My addiction to pornography and my sexual problem has really taken a toll on my mind.” He later said he had been a sexual abuse victim as a child, but the judge cut him off.

The deal comes more than a month after a statement issued on behalf of the women said they were “hopeful for a just and prompt resolution” and had “great faith in the prosecutor’s office and the court.”

Castro, 53, had been scheduled for trial Aug. 5 on a 977-count indictment. The indictment included two counts of aggravated murder related to accusations that he punched and starved one woman until she miscarried. The former school bus driver also was charged with hundreds of counts of kidnapping and rape, plus assault and other counts.

He was accused of repeatedly restraining the women, sometimes chaining them to a pole in a basement, to a bedroom heater or inside a van. The charges alleged Castro assaulted one woman with a vacuum cord around her neck when she tried to escape.

The sticking point on a plea deal had been whether the prosecutor would rule out the death penalty. The Cuyahoga County prosecutor had kept that issue under review.

The three women disappeared separately between 2002 and 2004, when they were 14, 16 and 20 years old. Each said they had accepted a ride from Castro, who remained friends with the family of one of the women and even attended vigils over the years marking her disappearance.

The women escaped Castro’s house May 6 when one of them kicked out part of a door and called to neighbors for help. Castro was arrested within hours and has remained behind bars.

News that Amanda Berry, Gina Dejesus and Michelle Knight had been found alive electrified the Cleveland area, where two of them were household names after years of searches, publicity and vigils. But elation soon turned to shock as allegations about their treatment began to emerge.

Castro fathered a 6-year-old daughter with Berry, authorities said. They allege that on the day the child was born, Christmas 2006, Castro raped one of the other women, who had helped deliver the baby.

Berry told authorities that she, her child and the other women never saw a doctor during their captivity.

Knight said her five pregnancies ended after Castro starved and repeatedly punched her.

The Associated Press does not usually identify people who may be victims of sexual assault, but the names of the three women were widely circulated after they disappeared, and they appeared in an online video thanking the public for its support. They otherwise have sought to stay out of sight and have appealed for privacy.

The victims say they are relieved that Ariel Castro has pleaded guilty to charges that will keep him in prison for life.

A statement released today by a law firm representing the women says they are satisfied by the resolution and looking forward to the end of the legal end of the case.

Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight are continuing to ask for privacy and say they don't want to speak publicly.

What's the + 1000 years ... I assumed life would cover it, or does he have to stay buried on the prison ground for a 1000 years, or this just for drama.

Amanda Berry went to a Nelly concert in Cleveland during some kind of festival this weekend. Got up on stage and waved to the crowd in thanks for their support.

Good for her. Getting out and living a bit. I hope she can truly, fully heal for all she went through.

I agree with you, but...Nelly? Not familiar with his music but after looking up some of his lyrics...whoa. Just an odd mix of her experiences when considering his words.

As for the 1000 years, maybe that was done in case of some kind of fucked up loophole.

This really nails it for me - "Castro, who remained friends with the family of one of the women and even attended vigils over the years marking her disappearance."

    What a fucking scumbag.

That's what I was thinking. The electric chair/lethal injection even getting shanked from another inmate seems almost like the easy way out compared to 30+ years alone in a tiny cell with only your thoughts (with a window and an hour outside a day if you are lucky).
