That was quick. I got this (slightly snippy) response right away - I never suggested that I thought the charge was added to the price of the actual album, but they assumed I was confused. I replied to them and suggested they make it a lot more clear exactly what was going to happen. Additional shipping charges are fine, but charging twice like that is unheard of, and they shouldn't be surprised that folks are confused.

I think you're mistaken about the additional charge and what it applies to.
You'll see in my confirmation e-mail to you that the charge is specifically for INTERNATIONAL shipping and NOT a surcharge on the album you ordered.

I've pasted a copy of our shipping policy here for you. This policy is posted directly below the cart as you finalize orders at Jackpot Records.com. You'll see the international specific line marked in bold font.

The cart system we use does not have the ability to determine individual shipping charges for all international orders. That's why we contact each buyer individually with a shipping adjustment for THEIR address and not a blanket amount regardless of the country or ship-to location.

Hopefully you can understand that international shipments, even if they are just over the border from us, cost at least double that of a domestic order. The additional costs are applied ONLY to shipping, not to profit.

If you still feel that our shipping charges are unfair, I can cancel your order. However, I would like to remind you that this is a limited edition hand-numbered piece that will likely only be available here in the US. Meaning that import prices would be in effect for all record stores, individuals outside of the US.

Nope. I'm guessing today might be the day? Comes out 2 weeks from today. Pre orders would of been taken by now ..

As I mentioned, I suggested to them that the fact that they are going to come back and charge more for shipping later should be made REALLY obvious, because as far as I knew, no one was aware that this was going to happen and everyone getting the email is surprised .... they were a bit snotty about it.

.... I am REALLY looking forward to getting this record though!!!!!

Just received the email. They will be sending a PayPal invoice for the 6 added bucks shipped to Canada.

DRUMGASM will be shipping on or by Aug 27th!

I paid them, but it is an ass backwards way to handle shipping.

99.99% of websites are intelligent enough to calculate the shipping to your location at the checkout. Internet commerce has been around since the 90s. I don't recall seeing a note that said additional charges would be applied to international customers?

Honestly though, I knew something was up when the Vinyl was only 20 bux and shipping was only 4. I expected the vinyl to cost more if it was absorbing some of the shipping cost.

They tried to do the same to me.
I sent them an email saying how Un-proffesional that is and that I paid what I was told to pay.
Why should we pay for their mistake!

Yeah, as they told me in their reply to my email saying I wouldn't more.... the problem is that 1) that's a stupid way to do it, and 2) hardly anyone saw that information, so it obviously needed to be highlighted, considering that fact that it's a completely bizarre way of doing things.

I emailed them to ask about the extra $6 charge,Jake explained it to me so I was willing to pay the $6, then he sent me a request for $12 more so with the $4 I already paid it would mean a total shipping charge of $16 to Alberta. I told him to forget it. What a bad experiance with this company. Oh well cant win them all when you live in America's Hat

Yup. Reading comprehension. :P I don't even remember for sure if I read it - i think i kind of skimmed it maybe - but if I did I wasn't picking up what they were putting down. Probably because I have never heard of such a thing before, and wrote it off. I do take the blame, but still, it's a dumb way of doing it. Even I have set up a system for a website that quotes shipping costs from the shipping address, and I know nothing about doing it at all. It just took having someone from the postal company talking me through it on the phone.

P.S. I'm glad you took my comment in the way it was intended, tongue-in-cheek. I hope people aren't cancelling their orders and missing out on their record just because of this?

I saw and expected the extra charge, but $12 to Alberta seems a bit hefty. It shouldn't be that much if the extra to BC is $6. $10 shipping total is a *bit* much, but as far as I can tell, Jackpot Records is a fairly small operation so customers can't expect an Amazon/Future Shop kind of deal. Maybe Jackpot are a little beyond Mom-and-Pop, but just Mom-and-Pop-and-AssholeOlderBrother-and-CrazyUncleDon.

That said, I'm so stoked for this record that $25-ish is totally fine by me. Percussion = Life. :thumbup:
