I tried out for Who Wants to Be A Millionaire. I also passed the test, but was not picked to be on the show. I think I wasn't enthusiastic enough during the interview.Poncier said:Sweet.

I made sure to ham it up. Wore a Hawaiian shirt to both rounds of auditions. Tried to make myself as memorable as I could. I was really surprised at how many people did not want to share anything or really talk on the microphone. I remember the host asking one lady what she liked to do for fun, and instead of giving a real fun answer, she was like, "I don't wanna say". I couldn't understand why people would come try out and then NOT be cooperative. It was awkward.
Here is a photo of me at the audition. I told them I was in a band, and they were like, "How about a little air guitaaaaar??!", and then they started playing Smells Like Teen Spirit over the arena PA. I obliged. It was fun.

I tried out for the original Regis hosted prime time version, would have been around 2000-2001. It was all done on the phone. Called in and answered a bunch of automated questions. Passed that first hurdle and was told to call back at like 4PM and did one of those "fastest finger" quizzes on phone. never told if you got it right or not but 99.9% sure I did, and next step was to wait for a phone call later that evening for details on when to go to NYC for taping if selected.GlowGirl said:

My tryout was for the original one as well. I guess since I live in NYC they had the test in person. It was in a hotel banquet room. I remember having to wait in a line to get in and then they passed out the test. I felt like I was taking the SATs. My friend came with me but she didn’t pass the written test so she didn’t move on to the interview.Poncier said:

I actually have a shirt that has a botched answer. I'll find the clip.
I never laughed so hard at this show. The woman in the background saying "WHATTTTT?!?"
So you HAVE his ANSWER, then the correct one. They kind of go together, lol...
