Older and wiser comes from life experience. We all have those. And most of the people who find fault with others prejudices have bunch of their own including one towards those people.

Life brings the possibility of collecting wisdom and knowledge...Age simply means you have had more of a possibility, it does not mean you took advantage of it.

    *learning from life experience ;)

For some reason, I thought of this scene from Seinfeld:

Agent: I know why we have reservations.

Jerry: I don't think you do. If you did, I'd have a car. See, you know how to
take the reservation, you just don't know how to *hold* the reservation and
that's really the most important part of the reservation, the holding. Anybody
    can just take them.

Wow I never knew the show Seinfeld was so deep guess you'll do fine in life being a fan who can quote it.
I love his stand up that's a favorite of ours. His presentation, funny dude. Fire one up and wet our pants laughing, of course I couldn't quote it.
Maybe the show is the same I never have watched it.

I was always told that quoting would get me far. So I AM doing fine in life, thanks!

The quote (courtesy of a quick search) wasn't meant to be deep, just relevant in an odd way.

Yup, the show's good as shit. I actually like it better than his stand-up.

    No. With age comes age.
A stupid person at age 20 is going to still be the same stupid person at age 55 if they continue to believe in the same shit they've believed in for their entire life.
    ...
In other words, you have to do something with your mind in order to gain wisdom... sitting around for 35 years believing the same shit is not going to make you wise... just old.

What I hear you saying is....if people do not believe what you believe that is what makes them stupid....Now That is Stupid!
    ...
Aerial, you are missing the point, here.
The point being, age and wisdom are not related. Wisdom is not simply attained by the passing of years, rather through cognitive thought of the things you have learned from those years. We aren't given wisdom from age... age only gives us wrinkles, failing eyesight, greying hair and another day closer to our death.

    The thing on respect.
Respect is something that is earned. you don't automatically get respect simply by being old. You might get sympathy for being old... but, respect is something that is commanded and not demanded.

I had this conversation with my parents in regards to the rest of our family when I was about 9. They seemed a bit put off until I reminded them of all the ignorant, racist, sexist, and religiously brain-washed morons that make up that vast majority of our family...

I said that I'd respect them the moment they did or said something worthy of respect...

I disagree politely. Everyone learns along the way. Who's not learning so much are those constantly judging others,
even their own family.Man they are missing a whole heck of a lot by generalizing, categorizing being conceited stuck up and otherwise a pain in the ass to everyone, probably their family too. Definition don't judge cause someone is different than you with different opinions, in fact don't give that a second thought. It really doesn't matter. And I know I have great long gray hair, brings a BOOM at the concerts  and I guess I get judged on that too. My wife and I have a lot of hair we are a product of the 70's and 80's. And that is cool to us at least.

    Disagree with what, in particular?

See, not everyone learns along the way - and I don't think it's the judging of others (which we all do, like it - admit it - or not) that's the cause of the bubble-effect.

I LIKE differing opinions. May not agree but I welcome them and sometimes learn from them. I only hope that those who see things from another perspective present theirs with respect (and I think most here do that).

Me, I don't give a shit what someone's hair looks like (I've got thick curly long red hair and when it's in a ponytail it resembles Sideshow Bob's; anyone gonna judge me on that, well...so be it. I'd rather be considered by my actions, character, integrity. So far *knock wood* so good!)
