The only thing that does matter is the fact that they were able to purchase all of their weapons right here in the good ole USA , all the ammo they needed all the guns and rifles they had with out any backround check and no gun licenses just like going and shopping for clothes ....

That is hardly the only thing that matters.

It will be interesting to see where the guns came from.

I don't know. I'm just saying that you can't ignore things just to be PC if it is actually part of the cause. I don't think anyone knows for sure yet.

Agreed. That's not what the OP is trying to say here.

Well, I was surprised they were Muslim. With the 20th anniversary of the Branch Davidian fire and the 18th anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing, I was expecting another Tim McVeigh wannabe.

Having learned they're Muslim, I'm surprised they're Chechen. Chechen extremists have been responsible for some horrific attacks but they've all been aimed at Russia. They've never indicated any interest in the U.S. before this.

I don't know. Ignoring facts is not a very good way to perform a root cause analysis.

I particularly think of Chechen terrorists with the Beslan School hostage crisis a few years ago, when they took more than 1000 people hostage on the first day of school. Hundreds of people were killed, most of them children. They also took several hundred people hostage at a theater in Moscow and over a hundred people died.

This is a group that goes for very dramatic results, but like I said, their target is Russia. They fought 2 wars for independence in the 90s without success and since then they've waged a terrorist campaign to become an autonomous republic and not a Russian puppet state. The U.S. isn't part of that picture.

Didn't most the theater deaths occur as a result of the Russian police over-doing it with knock-out gas?

Yup. The police were not exactly subtle.

OTOH the terrorists created the hostage situation in the first place and based on what happened in Beslan, I think they (the terrorists) would have anticipated mass casualties as a result of their actions.

Nope, it's all important. But you said "only thing that does matter". And it isn't. Especially since it was the pressure cooker, etc that caused the most damage.

    Godfather.

Do you mean "due process", GF, rather than "due respect" ?

Unless we want to live under a police state, yes we should hope due process is carried out.

It's sad. I met some really nice people who are Muslim at school. They were very nice people. Sadly some Muslims are just extremists and do such bad things. There are extremists in all religions who would kill for what they believe in. Speaking of this, I understand and see what you believe in the "hocus pocus" of religion. I totally disagree with your statement, but I just want you to know I understand what you mean.

I know my statement was a bit exaggerated, but without religion the world would still be killing and the world would not have progressed to where it is today, despite how terrible the world is. Ironic, but true.
