I said to myself. SELF! Go look in your fucking basement!
Its really not that bad, we caught it early, as it was pouring in. We started bailing. We bailed for an hour. All the water is gone, but the house fucking STINKS!!! Cleanup over the weekend should keep us busy.
Not raining now, and the worst of the rain is supposedly over.

Some of these pictures on the news are crazy. This is one of the rare times that I am happy to live in an apartment. My parents got a foot of water in their basement in Park Ridge. I'm sure I'll be over there helping with the cleanup.

Never got over 1 inch at any point. But it was coming up through the drain, so we have a stinky basement, with a lot of shit that will now be headed to the garbage.
I am watching the news now, and there are people in the surrounding area, and surrounding suburbs, that have 3-4ft of water pouring in to their house. I-290(major Highway in Chicago) has been CLOSED in some areas for 4-5 hours, with 3-4ft of standing water.
I will be fine. Not going to lose anything major.
The problem is I really cant start the clean up(the real clean up) until tomorrow am.
If you want to watch some pissed off people, go turn on WGN.com and look at the flooding videos.

The Red Cross will be able to give you everything you need to properly sanitize and
decontaminate everything. YUCK!
So sorry to hear, it's back breaking, nasty work.
As I headed out to Menards this morning for some cleaning supplies, and maybe a Water Vac, I realized I wasnt that bad off. Some of these streets surrounding me, are just fucking lakes. My steet is just fine.
I made it to Menards and realized I was a little late for cleaning supplies and water vacs.
People were telling me horror stories. 2-3 ft of water in their basements.

At one point this morning, Kathy needed a kick in the ass!
"We need to get our drain fixed"
Really honey? Ya dont say.
Shes kinda cute when she is bailing water.
Until she opens her mouth.

Before the weekend is over, you will never want to touch or smell Clorox again!
And you might want to just go ahead and get a handle of Jaeger.
Just a suggestion :P
"Mike our tent got wet!!!"
Like I said, shes cute.
Till there aint nothing left worth taking away from me.....
Really SPEEDY?
Ya had to move to a villiage that is called...RIVER GROVE???
Im an idiot!
Till there aint nothing left worth taking away from me.....
Well, I guess it's better than living in Okeafenoke Swamp, Florida.
:P
hey!
Its why we dont have basements. Water can be a real bitch sometimes.
I'll back up that statement...
it's also part of the reason I live in the heights (i.e. the highest elevation in the greater Houston area) and have flood insurance (everyone looks at me like I'm insane when I tell them that...)
Exactly, why risk it living at sea level, makes perfect sense.
Mother Nature can be a real bitch sometimes too.
Yup. I live inland just far enough that when the water levels rise, I think I'll have beach front property!
That's the optimist in me.
When he called in to tell work he wasnt coming in, Mr. Dispatcher says.
"We all have problems"

Mr Dispatcher says...
"Hey Mike can you come in early?"

Of Course he did!
