They are legal, and they aren't going anywhere anytime soon.
It's a shame this kid had irresponbile parents. It's a shame there are nut jobs out there. Feel free to do back ground checks on peeps... i'm cool with that.....but don't think guns are going away.
cheers.
I think you would have to admit the gun argument is weighted heavily towards gun reform.
I would agree with you that the guns we speak of likely aren't going anywhere anytime soon. This is reality.
Completely agree with your third comment as well.
Cheers to you as well."My brain's a good brain!"0 -

not really sure what you mean by "lost the gun argument". seems to me the issue is still a hot one, which means the argument isn't over by a long shot.
and even if what you say is true, doesn't mean we should give up. If Abe Lincoln had given up his argument, where would your country be today?Gimli 1993

Kat? :P
I second the motion. Gun issues have become an entity in-of-itself. Today, more popular even than Jesus.

Pro gun argument :
Government wants to enslave us and we need to be prepared.
Bad guys will get us.
A really old document says I can have whatever gun I choose.
Pro gun reform argument:
11,000 deaths per year are too many.
Other progressive countries have undergone such an initiative and have experienced dramatic results.
Not seeking to get rid of all guns. Just the military grade ones.
Wanting to design and implement registry and background checks to try and keep guns from falling in the wrong hands.
If one was to be objective, I think one side obliterates the other with regards to an argument.
These are the prevalent points pushed forward in this debate."My brain's a good brain!"0 -
This is a horrible shame. If hope can grow from dirt like me, it can be done. - EV0

since when did the gun debate become about whether there are guns or no guns!?? ...
i thought it was about eliminating assault weapons and increasing background checks on ownership? ... i can't believe anyone would want to side with a group like the NRA ... they are like the westboro baptist church ... so wrapped up in their own delusions that they can't see the absurdity in their beliefs ...0 -
So, the 4 year old goes inside to get a rifle, comes outside and shoots his friend with it. So, was it intentional? It sounds it, doesn't it? Which is far more disturbing than an accidental shooting from merely playing with guns...
Regardless, I am sick of hearing about these tragedies. What's the solution? Prosecuting parents? The parents were right there in the side yard! They're not going to ban guns... But there's got to be some solution here. Mandatory lock up of personal items and keeping them unloaded?0 -

We are sick of gun violence go ahead go and play with your guns .....jesus greets me looks just like me ....0 -

i am the firm belief that if your gun was used in a crime than you should be arrested. I would make the parents responsible for this crime. hell, i would make it a crime if your gun was stolen cause you were not being a responsible gun owner.
secondly, is anyone else kind of scared that a 4 year old can hold a rifle and shot a kid in the head. I have never held a gun before but aren't rifles supposed to be heavy? I also wonder if the parent even showed the kid how to shoot cause i expect a shot to the head would be hard for someone 4 year old.0 -

if negligence is proven, yes. but if it's locked up safely away from toddlers, then the obvious answer would be no. if it's just sitting there next to your tv dinner on the couch, then yes, you should be held liable for that.Gimli 1993

how about for a 4 year old kid?
ok i went to far there in calling some a criminal but I think if you don't lock up your guns so that they are not easily stolen than you should face a fine for not being a responsible gun owner.0 -

from what i hear from responsible gun owners, you should have your gun in a safe. rights equal responsibility and your inability to keep your weapon safe has lead to a person being killed.0 -

*Bad guy breaks into house*
Stop mr bad guy I have to go open my safe so I can defend myself.
The level of stupid on this forum has reached an all-time high. I think I'll take a break. After the gun grabbers don't get their way, because nothing will pass the House, maybe people will return to normal.0 -
soo ... leave a gun loaded without the safety on lying around ... gun gets used to kill someone ... oh well??
this gun debate has gone a bit absurd ... from both sides ...
in any case - gun related deaths like this will only continue to rise cuz at the end of the day, the one thing that is indeed happening is that people are getting stupider and stupider ...0 -

that's the whole hypocrisy of it all. people keep touting themselves as responsible gun owners; "don't punish the law abiding and responsible". Well, if you have your gun sitting by your night stand, and you have kids, or even anyone else in the house, or even a fucking dog (don't laugh, try google), you aren't being very responsible, are you?
if you live alone, then I have no issue with you leaving your gun lying around so you can accidentally shoot yourself at your leisure.Gimli 1993
