The one minute guitar solo that ends "Go You Own Way" may be the finest piece of recorded music ever put on tape.

It sure is. Nothing tops his solo on Hold Me from 1982's underrated Mirage, though. He's got a killer climatic solo on Eyes of the World as well.

I remember being at a very smoky Commonwealth Ave party in the late 80s...and reaching the above conclusion about Mr. Buckingham's complete shred that ends GYOW at the same time as a fellow reveler. We both looked at each other after really listening to it, and were like "are you kidding me?"

    Bro just stands on it.

I ordered from soundstagedirect and the 45 was $20 more so I could not justify it for a record I had never even heard before purchasing.

There's a few copies of the Rumours LP to be had on the used market...they only sold 40 million physical copies of it, and I'd think most of them are vinyl.

    Nevermind Sound Off!
same volume same cartridge same turntable(Ortofon black) different vinyl pressings

    Nirvana-Nevermind-Simply Vinyl press.180 gram (gold label)(UK)
-Sounds good.Decent separation.Punchy kick drum without loosing any high end.Very quiet between songs and during quiet parts.Good blasts of sound for tracks like In Bloom, Drain You and Territorial Pissings.
Sounds good if you can find it!

I have Unplugged and In Utero of the same pressing. All sound great but I just had to try the Pallas!

    Nirvana-Nevermind-Pallas 180gram (German)
-Wow as soon as teen spirit come on its kicking your ass!
Heavy kick drum wonderful separation with all sorts of top end sounds that are usually unheard.
Guitar sound is amazing and clean.Great snare throughout.Breed guitar solo separation is amazing!Bass sound on Lounge Act thick, rich and full of power. Great cymbals on Stay Away.On a Plain well shit....Fucking Awesome!
Very smooth and quiet for SITW with great depth when the band comes in.
You should be able to find this pressing for less than $30 and it says Pallas right on the cover you cant miss it.
Killer pressing very impressive Pallas is the one to get!
    Or is it?
Does anyone have a MOFI pressing they could test against the Pallas?

    Let me know !
I love MOFI pressings and would like to know how Pallas measures compared to MOFI.

Thinking about doing this again with other albums.
Original AIC Dirt vs AIC Dirt MOV press
    Original Lullabies to Parralize-QOTSA-MOV press
Original Blind Melon vs RSD edition

    Any ideas?

    Happy spinnig everybody! :)

Nicely done Robby! Crazy that you hear such a distinct difference between two quality pressings.

Is the MOFI the one with 320 pressed in the wax? That's supposed to be the best, but out of print.

I have been grabbing cheap copies of albums I already have - for example - I have two different presses of royal scam from steely dan - and two copies of rumors by fleetwood mac - let's just say my buddy will be getting my b copies - :) it's a win-win - I get better records and my buddy gets a couple he doesn't have - ahhh - the life of a discerning record collector

The Pallas is plated from the same plates that pressed the ORG 032 blue vinyl from 2009 that everyone agrees is top notch. So with this new Pallas pressing you get the great sound of the ORG but don't have to pay $150-200 for the sound.

To me the MOFI sounds more muffled than the ORG, but still sounds good.. Just not as clean IMO.

So the consensus is that the German Pallas is the best edition that is available (reasonably)?

Ebay has them. That's where I got mine. Just have to be sure it says German import or pressing.
