What is the farthest you've traveled just for a PJ show

I know a lot of you will have me beat by miles (pun intended), but the Chicago show will be the furthest I've traveled specifically for a PJ show. I've always wanted to go to Chicago and what better reason to go than a PJ show.

I'm going from Gainesville Rock City in Florida to Chicago. Per Google maps, I'll be going 1,053 miles to party with you all.
92 - Orlando
03 - Tampa
08 - Tampa
12 - DeLuna Fest, EV Orlando 1 & 2, EV Ft Lauderdale 1 & 2
13 - Wrigley!!! ,Brooklyn 1 & 2, Hartford, OKC, Seattle
14 - Leeds, Milton Keynes, St Louis
16 - Ft Lauderdale, Miami, Tampa, Jacksonville, Wrigley 1 & 2

I just noticed an odd thing...

If you do a street view on google maps for Wrigley Field, they are advertising another show on July 19th. It's not PJ and obviously the picture was taken in a different year, but I do find it odd that the picture they are using is advertising a show on the same date that PJ is playing.

Looks like it's a sports talk show after the Cubs game.

    I guess I'm easily amused. :D

From Pittsburgh to Toronto, not too bad of a trip. Also did Cleveland, which is only an hour and half away. But going to Chicago this summer will be the furthest, about 2 hours longer than Toronto.

My current driving record is 638 miles from NJ to Cincy in 2000. But Wrigley will beat that record this summer by another 200 miles.

In 2000 - traveled 2 hours to Houston for two shows.

In 2003 took greyhound buses for 13 shows, alone. Was 21. Went from border of tx and louisana, traveled as far west as Denver, as Far East as Florida.

In 2004 road tripped close to 18 hrs from tx to Florida.

In 2008, drove about 20 hours from tx to Tennessee for bonnaroo. Also drove to va beach and Washington, D.C.

In 2009, flew from Texas to Seattle. Also went to Vancouver. Drove 6 hours to Austin as well.

In 2010 flew from tx to NYC and drove to Nj.

In 2012 I flew from Chicago to Europe. Did Berlin, Stockholm, Norway and Denmark. Also flew from Chicago to Seattle and drove through Washington Idaho and Montana.

In 2013, for the first time ever, I don't have to travel far. Will be about 45 min to wrigley :)

I have traveled ALOT. But it's worth it. I would have never visited certain places had it not been for pj. Seeing a new country or state and topping it off with a non local pj show is a great feeling :)

Not to derail my own post, but I just did a street view of the W hotel that I will be staying at in Chicago and there is a girl with Hot Pink hair outside the hotel. I wonder if she will be there in July too.

Actually, a mate and I did a great road trip from Manhattan while our wives shopped :-)

I've done a lot of travel around USA and some of the most interesting places are the places people rarely venture to.

Was that the show at Bayfront Amphitheater where it held 8,000 people but a bunch of people broke through the fence and the show became a show for 25,000?

I grew up down there and I have no idea why I didn't go to that show.

Back when I grew up in South Florida in the late 80's and 90's the crowds down there were nuts (me included). So many bands just looked shocked when they played down there because the crowds would go apeshit. I blame the heat.

    Great wisdom!

I choose travel over possessions. We have a nice but simple house, we live in absolute paradise but seeing the world, especially when we take the kids gives me the greatest joy. A PJ show is a bonus. I'd rather travel far and wide than fill our place with toys or booze up regularly. I sincerely think if more people travelled and saw the world, meeting all races and creeds there would be far less wars and poverty.

@Dimi: traveling is good. I understand why it's sad that pj doesn't play in your own backyard but just think of all the amazing places you've experienced and people you met because of pj. Do you think you ever would have traveled to wisconsin or toronto if not for pj? I would love to travel throughout europe and see pearl jam play but unfortuntately I don't have the cash (damn kids!).
I always get excited when a tour is announced because I always try to see pearl jam some place I haven't seen them before. This thinking has brought me to wonderful places like kitchener, ontario and dumps like reading, pennsylvania lol. Hopefully I'll be able to check them out somewherre this fall. Great thread op!

It's nice to know that we all have very similiar obsessions; paul I think you win the gold medal for mileage!

Longest across country: From San Francisco to Montana in a car and back.
