No one should be surprised. This has been Pearl Jam's policy since Lolla' 07 when they were censored for saying things about George Bush. They streamed three songs last year at the IOW but still don't stream shows. I expressed that doubt in the fifth post of this thread.
Based on the number of F-bombs I've heard this weekend, I don't think anyone is working the
censor button (and that's on tape-delayed sets).

The anticipated Pearl Jam concert, which closes Lollapalooza Brazil 2013, will not be broadcast live by Multishow.
The channel showed the subscription concerts of the three-day event, but the American band was tough in negotiating image rights and did not authorize the transfer. There is still an attempt to reverse the decision.
Pearl Jam also limited the work of photographers. Only authorized that 20 can record the show, well less than the total number of accredited professionals at the festival.
I was trying to be optimistic all weekend and thought it would be a great way to wind down the night, but the censorship that went down at Lolla 07 and the band's response to that was always in the back of my mind.
Looks like I'll be catching up on The Walking Dead instead.

Why exactly does Pearl Jam do this? Not letting sets at festivals be webcasted?
I do sort of wonder how much the bands "people" communicate to them how much we want it. They might just say they dont want to do it, and no one is telling them that there's lots of fans all over the world who would really appreciate seeing them on their computer for 15-30 minutes, so they don't really know they are upsetting or disappointing people. And if any of us ever run into one of them, its not going to be something that comes up.

Although knowing about broadcasting issues, it's disappointing.
The channel bought the rights for broadcasting the event for the three days, the band signed the contract months ago (can't say about the terms) and why, few hours for the show they come up with this kind of issue.
Will continue to love the band, but, it's sad. Worst, that I had the ticket to go, all the plan, and got ill, and now, can't even see them playing on TV.

I don't think this is the case. Look at Metallica. They stream EVERYTHING. Meaning no matter where you live in the world or what your situation is, you can always be "in" on a Metallica show. Pearl Jam knows that other bands are doing this. There's been a few festivals over the past three years in which PJ was the ONLY act not part of the festival's stream. That means they're going out of their way to get out of it. Why? I dunno. Maybe they're not as confident in their performances anymore. Maybe they're not about to be a part of ANYTHING that isn't gonna make money (I doubt free streams make much money). But it's not that they don't know what they're like you're speculating.

Maybe so, but I think we can be pretty certain that decisions like the fact that no more than 20 camera reporters can have access during their set is something coming from management and not the band members.
This isn't a knock on anyone but ever since reading the story of how the Easy Street Records performance was arranged where band management was against it but Eddie supposedly just forced their hand, I've wondered how many details don't get relayed to the guys. I mean, hey whatever, they don't owe anyone anything and they are obviously quite content with the way things have been run over the past 20 years, so it is what it is.
I guess I can look at the bright side that now I have time to finish the 35 page paper I have due tomorrow.

I thought this was common knowledge but I guess not. Pearl Jam doesn't stream shows because AT&T censored things they were saying during Lollapalooza '07. After that they made it their policy to not allow festivals to broadcast their appearances because they don't have control in the way the would be represented.

They made way too big a deal out of that. I was at Lolla '07. The Bush lyrics were lame so big deal if they were censored. So to make a point at AT&T they're never gonna stream a performance again? Whatever. Let 'em do what they want.

Again I ask, then why do the songs from Isle of Wight?
I think it's more than just the censorship issue, although I'm sure they would ask for contract
language that clearly says that can't be done again.
