How can everyone see this and not say anything??!

You obviously don't know the song that your hating on so much. The lyrics never say gonna fix it up again.. ANYWHERE! It just shows your ignorance.
You're joking right? ... :fp: I was making fun of the lyrics.... Duh. :fp: :fp: :fp:

But we really have a bigger issue here; which is that you chose to single out "fix it up again" as opposed to "bono is my new best friend". Amazing.
ever heard the expression 'Know when to stop?'

Has enough time passed now for us all to come together and admit the fact that Backspacer was just awful! Yeah, most of us were in denial just because it was a new Pearl Jam studio album and at that point we would accept anything new - but come on guys! Compared to everything else its well below par! I cant actually think any time in the past 2 yrs that I thought to myself "I could really listen to Backspacer right now!"

Come on - just admit it and we can all move on...

If Ole and Of the Earth are anything to judge by, my hopes are not too high for the next album...

It kills me to write this by the way!

First of all Backspacer is far from awful and Of the Earth and Ole aren't on the new album. 0 for 3 ain't bad.

• I. LOVE. BACKSPACER.

And it is not because I love every Pearl Jam album. I truly love 75%ish of the songs on there, and somewhat enjoy the others.

Some Pearl Jam fans think the album sounds too unoriginal (too close the classic "rock-n-roll" sound) which is unusual for PJ (pre-Avocado anyway). But when I hear Eddie sing many classic rock songs live that belong to other bands, I enjoy it because Eddie adds so much soul to them.

This album is different (in that it's not full of "original sound"), but fantastic.
I wish I was as fortunate...
as fortunate as me.
• Anytime I listen to "Just Breathe" all I can think about is how Ed sounds like he has a cold.
Sounds like he needs to blow his nose and re-record it!

Could have done without Johnny guitar, but I thought backspacer was awesome otherwise. There are two schools thought on this that nobody will ever agree upon. You have the fans who loved riot act and hated self titled and backspacer and you have the vice versa. I definitely don't agree with the first post, but I would wager that person loved riot act.

Of the Earth is good but if you listen closely you will hear... Porch . Which all things considered is quite alright compared to the above.

Haven't you done that The Fixer "joke" twice now?

And Riot Act is great. But if you dislike it - you have to agree it was "something" atleast. Backspacer is... nothing.

I got your back man! It is a VERY poor effort at an album. My hopes are not high for the new one too, what with saying it will be "experimental". And all this is coming from a HUGE PJ fan. Been listening to them religiously for about 10 years now, and i've lost track of how much i've spent on PJ records and such. Still, I hope to be proven wrong about the new album!

I don't like Supersonic or Force of Nature, but some of that album is really great, particularly Unthought Known and Amongst the Waves.

Some people don't like the album, but some people do. So great.

I thought jack irons was a great fit, too bad he couldn't keep the touring pace. That carpal tunnel can be a real B.

Yep, yep

But honestly, at this point I'm just trying to avoid STAYSEA's wrath.

I know its just so fun to do maybe I'll upload a YouTube performance. It will have only slightly higher production values than the actual The Fixer video.

I agree RiotAct was def at least something. I would upgrade it to OK even.

just gave backspacer another listen. Same deal. I love the gritty kick to the first half. I almost fell asleep driving during the boring second half. Im so torn on this album.

Whats with all the "Yeah yeah yeahs?"

Eddie have a "yeah yeah yeah" phase or what?

Should replace that with the nice vocal work on Ten which makes you wanne sing along like a crazy person.

It definitely feels like two different albums. Maybe if they did a better job of mixup the track listing it would be better. Still like it, just dont love it.

Pearl Jam brought it on themselves by releasing that album ;)
