The resemblance between President Obama and an actor who plays the devil on History's "The Bible" has drawn more than a little notice.
Conservative commentator Glenn Beck was among the first to take to Twitter to point out the resemblance between Obama and actor Mohamen Mehdi Ouzanni. A slew of tweets and news stories ensued, many from Obama supporters who weren't pleased.
Bing: Mark Burnett says God was present on set of 'The Bible'
History did not immediately respond to a request for comment from TheWrap.
In the miniseries, the actor resembles an older version of the U.S. president. Last year, HBO's "Game of Thrones" came under criticism when its executive producers said in a DVD commentary that a fake head of President George W. Bush was impaled on a spike in one scene.
"The Bible" has been a huge hit for History, drawing 13.1 million for its first episode and 10.8 million for its second. It is executive produced by "Survivor" creator Mark Burnett.
Last week, one of its executive producers, Scott Sassa, resigned as Hearst's entertainment and syndication president after what the New York Post described as a sexting scandal involving a stripper.

(thanks for posting it)
"what a long, strange trip it's been"
Too many will find that offensive. I do ... he's our President after all.
Show some respect. And yes the resemblance is very noticeable but I have not as of yet
watched the series. Sometimes a still is different then watching the actor at work.
and it was an abhorrent thing to do
"what a long, strange trip it's been"
Umm.. I think they did think it through. You don't think it was intentional?
hell yes it was intentional
"what a long, strange trip it's been"
"...I changed by not changing at all..."
Go figure ...
:fp:
"Well, you tell him that I don't talk to suckas."
no
because the devil is very intelligent
"what a long, strange trip it's been"

He does have a long history of starring in movies from biblical times and this series was shot in his homeland of Morocco. Could just be coincidence ...
"Well, you tell him that I don't talk to suckas."
Thanks for the further clarification in your later post, too.

"Well, you tell him that I don't talk to suckas."
the difference is unfortunately i have to believe that Bush exists
"what a long, strange trip it's been"
if the makers are anti Obama. Are you thinking they are just making noise?
Attention grabbing so people will watch? Like I said I saw some commercials for the series
but haven't watched, I'm a bit in the dark. Don't like the resemblance though for whatever reason.
Maybe not if your audience generally thinks the current president is the devil himself. In my experience in my own family, the gun-totin' bible thumpers tend to think Pres. Obama is evil incarnate. And you know that it is always good to give crazy people more reason to ponder and/or act on their crazy inclinations. :fp:
Mark Burnett supported Obama in his first election, and supported the democratic party as a whole thos last time around. I'm doubting this was done on purpose, unless Burnett didn't have much to do wit it outside of funding.

to not question your government is unpatriotic."

obviously producers, directors, casting agents etc. had to know the core audience will be christian conservatives...so does it really come as any surprise?
especially when in this series jesus is being portrayed by a european white guy?
angels share laughter

Jesus is often depicted as a European white guy.
I don't know whether it was intentional or not, but this is what the guy looks like out of costume:
Not really Obama's long lost twin.
"...I changed by not changing at all..."
Talk about a manufactured controversy.....
Can we go back to arguing about clotheslines again?
