A naked body washed ashore in Miami Beach, Fla., on Thursday morning, sparking a police investigation and sending chills through the neighborhood.
Follow @NBCNewsUSThe deceased man was found on the beach at around 1:30 a.m. Thursday, NBC Miami reported. Police did not give any details on what the apparent cause of death was or how the body may have wound up on the beach.
The victim hasn’t been identified, according to NBC Miami.
“I was with my friend and I saw the policemen going to the beach, so we went there and saw a dead body,” Alexandra Mathiu, a student at a local language school, told NBC Miami. “It’s just so scary because it’s in front of our school.”
Police are working to determine the cause of death. A medical examiner was on the scene Thursday and removed the body, NBC Miami reported.

or we can drive the same amount of time and go to First Beach-in Forks (and get mobbed by Twilight Fans)
this beach is a 'newer' beach, so the shores are still pretty rocky, not exactly great for walking around barefoot.
I have yet to go to a tropical beach...
The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.

I've lived in Brooklyn for about eight years now, and other than frequent trips to Coney Island and Rockaway (which are mainly enjoyable entertainment and surfing trips, respectively), we finally ventured out to the madness that is Jones Beach this past summer for a beachy beach trip:
I think we'll continue to take the loooooooooong drive to the Cape.

5 minutes dues east -- Palm Beach!
I used to know where Jimmy Buffet lived right on the beach where I used to surf. I made it a point to pass by his house whenever I was on my way to surf. I figured I'd ask if he wanted to jam sometime if I ever bumped into him. I think he moved.
JP knows. as a local. You have to try South Florida's beaches. I like CoCo beach, Pensacola, Daytona, West Palm, South Beach and Hollywood beach.
Hollywood has the most laid back vibes in my opinion. It's never very crowded.
We go to Silver Lake Sand Dunes on Lake Michigan a few times each summer. We hike across the dunes and end up at a totally deserted beach on Lake Michigan. Not the ocean, but pretty cool - can't see anyone or any other land for miles. We're going to take the ferry across Lake Michigan after Wrigley to spend a few days here in July. Can't wait!

The best beaches in FL are Siesta Key, Destin, and St. George island.

We rotate between three beaches. The Isle of Palms near Charleston, SC, Orange Beach, AL and San Destin, FL.

Did you go out to Tybee Island outside Savannah? Been there once, and thought it was a nice, laid back beach with some descent sized waves. Also had some cool antique shops to browse through.
