Not that it says anything about his playing abilities-- and yes he was one of the greatest ever, but I used to work with his mother. I only met Barry once, but his Mom's a gem. :)

I would rate him as the best in my football viewing years. Years that began in 1985 with da Bears. I'd rate Walter Payton a close second.

Native Michigander here - very grateful to have been able to watch him each week. Too bad the Lions will always blow!

I believe he's also considered a gentleman of the game, so this makes complete sense.

Always loved how he just handed the ball to the ref after scoring a touchdown - very humble.

i got about 5 of them lined up to watch.

i'm obviously biased, but the reggie white/jerome brown one is particularly good....as is the chris spielman episode.

Amazing that both Barry and Bo just vanished from the public eye. Two icons when I was growing up.

very true. they were both flat-out amazing. i'm convinced that if Bo would have picked one sport, he would be in the HOF in that sport. not a doubt in my mind.

Walter Payton second to Sanders? Ridiculous!

I do think Sanders was a fn beast of a RB. He played for a crappy team, he ended his career early. I think it's possible that had those last two not happened....he may be the best.

That said, Payton played for some bad Bears teams who had bad o-lines....

Sanders a great player....top 3 IMO, but Payton was the best.

Dude straight up quit on his team. Was locked into a long term deal, Lions wouldn't trade him or build around him, so he said fuck it. For shame, could have held the record until Emmit would have eventually got it. Sad story, he thinks his team wasn't interested in winning, so he quit. True Story.......
