threefish10 wrote:I'm not a fan of flying either ther is no room for me, i'm 6"2, but if you do want to fly for cheaper on virgin and you want more room, when you cheak in just as for a seat in the emergency row, you get heaps of room. i've done it evrytime i fly. and when me and my wife fly to sydney her work paid for her flights on QANTAS which cost $650, and my flight on Virgin was only $200(i didn't get a sale price but that still shitloads cheaper then Qantas for the exact same flight)
Thanks Threefish....sounds like a good idea....HOWEVER, just mentioning the words emergency row will make him freak!!! "Emergency row? Why do they need an emergency row????"
I've been told QANTAS ONLY!!!! If I want him on a plane, we're going QANTAS. Another reason is because they have a tv which makes him forget where he is. On Virgin, he just sits there feeling every single bump and stares straight ahead!
He was never this bad before....after Pearl Jam 2003 the flight home was realllly bumpy for a while and that freaked him out. He's flown twice since then but still doesn't like it. He went through an "I'm not going to fly ever again" stage but thankfully that's over!!!★ 1995 - Brisbane ★ 1998 - Brisbane ★ 2003 - Brisbane ★ 2006 - Brisbane ★

My wife is a shocking flyer, try sitting next to someone throwing up every 20 minutes for a 18 hour flight, not fun, but i'm sure it was much worse for her.
And the way i see it, if i'm sitting in the emergency row i'm the first fucker out of that thing if anything does happen.
and on my return from sydney last month i swear the pilot had never landed in the dark before, he hit the deck HARD, i swear he blew a tyre, even the flight crew were shocked with how hard he hit the runwaycondescending and sarcastic since 19800 -

Your poor wife....nothing worse than chucking in a plane. Did a few times when I was little! Horrible!
The emergency row = first fucker out is a good idea!! So now Leigh will want Qantas AND the emergency row!!!!
Mental note: No flying at night time when pilot can't see ground and fucks up landing!! That woukd be the final straw! The "never ever" rule would come back again!!!★ 1995 - Brisbane ★ 1998 - Brisbane ★ 2003 - Brisbane ★ 2006 - Brisbane ★

yeah flying doesn't bother me, i just hate it, i can't sit in the cinema and watch a movie with out getting uncomfitable, and there is way less room in a plane, even short flights i start to hurt from sitting and being cramped in that little space.condescending and sarcastic since 19800 -

I agree the space thing is a pain...going to Bali, omg it felt like i was in planes for about 10 hours!! it sucked, but i guess thats the price we tallies pay!he who forgets will be destined to remember0 -
3, Zig, Tig, Tommy hows things? Funny read all this flying stuff.
I absolutely love flying (Im still baffled how those things get off the ground) and believe it or not, used to be the only boofhead on the aircraft that enjoyed a bit of turbulence.
That all changed about 4 years ago when I flew back one friday nite from Gold Coast to Syd. Due to family connections I was lucky enough to sit in the jumpseat which to me was an amazing experience but the turbulence that nite approaching sydney was the scariest thig Ive ever witnessed. The plane actually hit the tarmac, lifted up again the slammed back down AGAIN.
The stress in the cabin and then the pilots comments after landing will stick with me forever eg "did you see the angle we were at at 300feet" or "I though we were in serious trouble when we first hit cause the left....blah blah blah"
I still enjoy flying but just not the same attitude I used to have towards it.
On a lighter note. I did my year 10 work experience at Qantas and sat for 4 hrs in a simulator while two captains renewed their licences. About 20 different takoffs in different countries with tyres being blown, engines failing, fires in the cargo etc. Id pay a cople of grand to be able to do that again. AwesomeI'll ride the wave where it takes me.0 -

Nice one Donjon, sounds like ya almost died:) i've had some great flights and some shitty ones, in the states we flew Alaskan Air a few time from Canada to LA, and just before we left LA to come home one of the fuckers come down, scary thinking "I was just on one of those" then having to fly home. and the Qantas plane on the way home was like the 1st plane ever built, it was shit, i went to pull up the arm rest and the whole arm came off, so i just hid it under the seat. some how the plane managed to get me home.condescending and sarcastic since 19800

so i take it he doesn't watch "Air Crash Investigation" then, man i love that show, there has been some pretty wicked crashes, shit like planes flipping up side down, and mid air collisions, and stuff like the roof of the plane being torn off, fun times!condescending and sarcastic since 19800 -
I'm getting a little scared myself!
When I was 10 my whole family and older siblings current girlfriends/boyfriends went to America. We got a flight over the Grand Canyon and since there were 10 of us, we needed two little planes. So, my plane was all fun and games but the other family members on the other plane got off WHITE and said that one of their engines/propellers? actually stopped and the pilot was panicking etc and they finished the flight with only one engine/propeller (I can't remember which!).
And then dad said that a week or two later, one of the planes from that same company actually crashed! Probably the same plane!★ 1995 - Brisbane ★ 1998 - Brisbane ★ 2003 - Brisbane ★ 2006 - Brisbane ★

If a commercial for that show comes on or I'm changing channels when I'm watching something else, I IMMEDIATELY change the channel before he sees it -- especially now since he got over his "never ever fly again" drama! What he doesn't know can't hurt him.★ 1995 - Brisbane ★ 1998 - Brisbane ★ 2003 - Brisbane ★ 2006 - Brisbane ★
