yep....it's too easy to get married and too easy to get divorced.
Sure as hell isn't easy to get married... Oh it's not easy getting divorced... Well if there are children involved.

Heath Ledger may have been a casualty of his break up with the mother of his kid... Like many men getting divorced with kids... he may have been denied proper or any access to his child by his wife, which fucks people up immensly... I'm glad access laws are currently being changed for the better...

This may not have been the case... but I think the powers that be have noticed that suicide is a common theme amongst divorced men who have been denied access rights or have to go thru all the trouble of that shite to get any access.

    that is all.....

I'd be very surprised if anything changed with you two as well :)
They'd be able to say "Showusyerring!" to each other after their marriage... that'd change...

I couldn't wait to change to Glenns surname - felt proud to take on his name!

It's not that I'm not proud of taking Leigh's name....I think it's more because I'm SOOOO proud of my last name. Leigh 100% understands because he's really proud of his last name and he said there is NO WAY he'd ever want to change it -- and he doesn't want to force that on me when I obviously feel just as strongly about my last name as he does about his.

The kids thing with different names sort of sucks but people can still call me Mrs Chalker or whatever....I'm not going to say "Noooo, MS BUTLER!!" The whole MS thing sucks too ... I thought I'd be MRS Butler but apparently if I don't change my last name I change from MISS to MS. Fuck that! I'm just going to call myself MRS Butler. MS reminds me too much of divorcees.

LOL!!! He makes his own....I know a few people that do that. I wouldn't - it's too hard to minitor the strength of it.
Also.....we don't drink or use it every day, like a lot of people - only use it when needed.
I do know people that drink it every day....and they are definately NOT blue :D
lmao i think you should check those people again!

When I say it's easy....I mean it's easy to get the 'piece of paper.
The emotional side of it, especially when there's children involved, is nothing short of tragic!!
We have a few male friends that have been threw it and have been totally screwed by the system when it comes to access to THEIR children AND as far as the amount of money they have to fork over

Besides the increased suicides in these incedences, just look at how many cases there have been in recent years, where the father has not only taken his own life, but the lives of his children as well :(

So what name will the children have? or are they going to have hyphenated names - Chalker-Butler, Butler-Chalker??

I love being the 'Gordon family' :D

I don't think I would've like the hyphenated way (each to their own of course - it's just me). It also makes me proud that my children have my surname.

LOL! I see them nearly every day :D let's put it this way - I think they'd be more likely to turn GREEN than blue ;)

Maybe the blue and the green counteract each other????

Yeah and some of the women involved in fucking with their ex husbands sometimes have an idea of what they are doing too... which is sickening... This is why the system is changing... women do not rule anymore.

Leigh's name (Chalker). We'll still be the "Chalker" family, I'll just sign my name Butler! ha ha! :D

I can see where you are coming from --- I just really really reallllly don't want to change my last name. It used to really stress me out until one day Leigh said "If you like it that much, just keep it! I don't care at all". My love for him grew a little bit more that day! He has insisted the kids have his name though -- and I agree.

The women don't need to know.
    I remember a friend of ours, that seperated from her hubby about a year ago, telling me at the time, that when she rang Centrelink to find out what she needed to do re; payments etc;
The guy she spoke to got all the financial details and told her what her X would HAVE to pay her.....it was a rediculous amount - more than anyone would need for 3 children! She told the guy that she didn't need or want that much and he said that if she didn't accept it, then she wouldn't be eligible for Single parent payments from Centrelink.
Her and her X came to a civil private arrangement, but if she'd gone with what Centrelink wanted, she would've been getting more money than what her and her hubby were on when together. It was BULLSHIT!!!
This is usually the reason why divorced couples end up hating each other.

Oh....don't get me wrong, Zig......I'm not knocking you....I was just saying how I feel for ME :)

It's the same as people who don't get married, just coz they're having kids. I have no problem with that either.....for us, marriage was what we wanted BEFORE having children so it worked for us.
Each to their own - there's no right and wrong way IMO....it's what ever works for the individual :)

    LMFAO!!!!
You've got no idea how many times we've had a laugh about that.
eg; when both the boys were born and they have the little name tag things on the crib that say eg; Gordon, Connor Scott.
We used to get nurses and Dr's come in and look at the tag and say "so how's Gordon going today?"
Thank goodness they double checked with Maddi

Well I think some women are so put out by fucking up a relationship that they run with bleeding their hubbies of EVERYTHING including more money than they need!... Okay they are fixing the child access side of things... not sure about maintenance payments though...

    Yep. I know!
My best friends hubby's X wife
When they frist seperated she didn't even want their 6 month old baby, so he got full custody. All was fine and he raised her for the next almost 5 years. Then he hooked up with my girlfriend and eventually they moved in together.
All of a sudden his X wife was wanting access to Rhiannon and in no time took him to court and got full custody and then 4 months later moved to Victoria, just to spite him!
Besides the fact that she was evil enough to do this to him and their daughter.....she was legally allowed to do it  :(
Now he works his butt off so he can see his daughter. To see her he has to go and spend time (without my girlfriend) in VIC or if he's given permission to bring Rhiannon to WA for a holiday, he has to pay to fly to VIC and pick Rhiannon up and fly her back here....and then the same to take her home again. That's 6 airfares! It's FUCKED!

So many times he's just reached a point where he's said it's all too hard....and my girlfriend has talked him around and convinced him to keep doing what he's doing and stay in touch with his daughter.
My hope is that (and I believe it will happen) when Rhiannon is old enough, she'll move back here to WA to be closer to her Dad. Kids aren't stupid - they figure it all out sooner or later.

It's good to talk about it....helps me get my head around it...

I don't think I would've like the hyphenated way (each to their own of course - it's just me). It also makes me proud that my children have my surname.

Ive got a hyphenated name not by choice tho....Its Matts families name....
Its a quite famous welsh name.............the hyphen didnt appear until early 1900
I would much prefer my maiden name that had 4 letters compared to a name
that has 14 letters I have 24 letters in my name thats nearly the alphabet..
And it sucks cos ppl think its my maiden name and matts surname....drives me nuts....after nearly 26yrs of it Im ready to change...quite often I just use the last part of it...cos its bloody hard to explain....when spelling your name u say hyphen so many times ppl put a comma...wtf dont ppl know what a bloody hyphen is....sorry end of rant...LOL...

Apparently my family name (on my Fathers side) used to be hyphenated. It used to be De Corsey-Jones (not sure of the spelling of the first name?) and yeah....they got it changed at some stage. Stupid idiots dropped the French part - De Corsey and kept the boring Welsh part - Jones
