Nah man there's massive money to be made in the greyhound world. Its been running at Canberra and the prizemoney there is about $300 bucks a win, $80 for 2nd and about $40 for 3rd....so by my calculations the mutt needs to win about 8 times at Canberra for us to break even (dog cost $2500).

Rich I tells ya. And each time we go watch it we have sworn we will wear suits

how much a week does it cost to feed, house, train a greyhound, like is it gonna be more then a $300 win a week?

but yeah, i'd chuck a tenner on a dog called cokenhookers.

We are looking at a deal with the dude in which we pay no weekly kennel/food fees. If it wins at Canberra we keep the cash. If it runs 2nd or 3rd - he keeps the cash and then if it comes to town (which it will coz my brother is adamant he wants to pump the thing full of creatine :D to make it run faster - only joking dog lovers) then you split all the prizemoney.

I think prizemoney in town can be anywhere from about $800 to $3000

Hmmmmmm? all 'sounds' great. Hope it works out for you both :)

Coz they test for steriods. Creatine is a lot harder to test for as the body creates it naturally.

We did seriously discuss doping a dog for ages actually as my bro's background is sports science/medicine but we just couldnt do it - we'd probably kill the thing. We did also joke about training it ourselves - behind the car up and down the freeway :D

The good thing about the trainer taking 2nd and 3rd prizemoney (coz you cant purposely make a dog run 2nd or 3rd) is that you at least know the trainer is putting it in for the win!!

Screw you guys, Im going home

Its purely for a laugh and some fun. Its only $1200 each and funily enough I just did my 06 return and I have a refund of nearly $3000 so that'll cover the dog, a new greyhound suit and the drugs!! Oh and I might slip the trainer a sweetner

Excellent :D and it's not as if it's a huge risk, either.

EDIT: missed ya by this much....:D
