think how much beer they sold during the rain delay. I'll bet a few fans couldn't answer the bell.

Nice start for Junior to begin the season =D>

Almost pulled it off until he ran out of gas on the last lap, d'oh! still finished in 2nd. Might have finished worse had he pitted.

How does someone be mentally prepared for a race after kiling a driver on a track, just hours earlier? Not a good thing for today's drivers and I feel it's an insult to family/friends of the last night's victim.

10:45 AM: Looks like he won't be racing today. Right decision.

First off, he's not racing today. Secondly, Tony is not responsible for that idiot running onto the track like that.

Yeah, I can see how Mr. Hot Head Stewart could never be responsible for hitting a driver.

based on from what i've seen/heard, it kinda seems like it was the 20 year old's fault. Should have waited. My prayers are for him, his family and Tony Stewart.

    Go Dale Jr.!!

I unfortunately watched the video. Don't know why. Never usually watch those things. Hard to see what happened just before since it was zoomed in a bit. No one knows anything at this point but witnesses last night didn't see it like what he did

You think Stewart isn't capable of pulling a dumb ass move?

Maybe he was trying to scare the kid and miscalculated.
Maybe he did lose his mind for a moment. it's happened before.
Sounds like his car sped up just before hitting Ward.

Obviously Ward getting out of his car and going towards traffic was not the smartest thing to do, but this isn't a rare occurence.

You nor I were at the race and can't truly know what happened, but Stewart is not the Mr Class of Nascar.

watching the video i saw and knowing george to be a hothead, it looks like he didn't do anything to avoid the kid and seems to me like accelerated which made is car slide into him...but he did not purposely want to hurt or kill the guy

messed up situation. the cops don't see any criminal activity. i'm sure stewart is going to get sued big time.

The Watkins Glen race was pretty good racing outside of the red flag incident. It's amazing when those guys are able to walk away after such violent crashes.

Looked to me like Stewart seen him too late and in an effort to avoid him accelerated. It's my understanding that these cars are largel steered with their accelerators. Stewart's car has a similar action to the first car that almost hit the kid.

I've seen a lot of people point out that Stewart is a hot head, but I don't see what he had to be mad about, so I don't think that really plays into it.

So there is still only an investigation and not charges filed, right?
If this happened on a highway, wouldn't he get involuntary manslaughter at the very least?

Knowing Smokes past he probably just wanted to "Buzz the tower" kinda thing. You know he saw him.Im sure it was not intentional, but dumb move on 14 not getting out of the kids way.And lets not forget what a stupid move on Wards part to walk down and into traffic right by the turn no less. This is just a tragic accident.Correct me if I'm wrong but if Smoke accelerates Dosent that cause the cart to kick out? So maybe he tried to swerve a little(cant tell from video) and the kid walked in as the ass end pushed out.

That guy was a moron. It's cold but that's what happens when you run out into the middle of a race car track and try to engage the cars.

No charges against Stewart. Ward was under the influence of marijuana enough to "impact judgement".

I didn't think they would file charges. Tragic, but never get out of your car in a race accident, that's the root cause.

Kurt Busch's ex-girlfriend accused him of assault and is now on trial. Kurt testified that she is a trained assassin, which sound totally crazy. Until you dig a little deeper ...

I'm thinking there is a good chance she is a trained assassin!

Sprint Unlimited was a good race last night. Harvick and Logano got into it again. Looking forward to the big race on Sunday. Go #88.

I'm still confused as to why Jeff Gordon is stepping down. He's not that old to be racing. last night he did well.
