if you only have mostly clothes in the bag and they start annoying you about the size...just put several layers on and tell them to stuff it.

toothpaste and deodorants are out (right pain, and the airports haven't caught up on it yet so you can't even find mini-size toothpaste to buy once through security. got deodorants wipes, that's the only form that'll pass. dental floss..but doesn''t work so well).

all electronics are fine, I had camera and MP3 player in my carry-on bag going to Dublin, Barcelona and France.

All of the above apply flying from UK airports..in Dublin, they didn't even check my ID anywhere as I'd checked in online.

flying back, it seems to vary depending on the airport/country and airline.

no no no... what we've got is that you can take basically everything as you're not travelling from/to the UK/US. (well, except for sharp obejcts.. which aren't allowed in hang luggage anyhoo.)

and it's a Pearl Jam concert - it's worth anything!

Ireland flying to anywhere bar US = take what you fuckin want... the Airport security woman told me (well politely anyway)

flying back to Ireland might be different depending on what the Italian airport securities are doing....

I did the clever thing and called Lufthansa again to find out exactly what the restrictions are on hand luggage... and... much as I hate to admit :rolleyes: , dunk's right, there are no restrictions from Ireland OR from Germany and it's pretty much only if you're travelling from the UK. Hand luggage is as before, toiletries permitted, etc.
