Why the frenzy over GA?

I think the GA discussion came about because, like me, everyone thought that GA would span the entire field and encompass 5-10 thousand people. It didn't happen that way and now people are feeling shafted because now there is pretty much zero possibility of getting the best seats in the house unless you know a fellow 10C member with an extra ticket. I'm considering GA at wrigley to be the Benaroya of seating mainly because of the rabid demand and extremely limited availability. Think about it...you can't even really buy your way in if you wanted to. Its the holy grail of seating. Hence the fairness discussion.I'm still alive..0

If I'm in the upper deck than so be it. Concerts are not like sports games in my view. For football or hockey games I want to be as close as possible. Or I will stay home where I can get a better view. Concerts as long as I am there I am happy. Would GA have been nice fuck yeah. But due too circumstances beyond my control it did not happen. So I will be slugging it out this weekend with other PJ fans. But it will be a fun show and I don't care.
Besides Vader didn't get GA seats so why should I feel upset. My butt itches!0 -

Close at hockey or football? Been on the glass and behind the penalty box and benches at may games. Would much rather sit on the rail center ice in the upper deck!!
difference as previously mentioned is the scarcity of the Wrigley GA tickets. as well as the fact that is 10C only. no young douchebags at acting like idiots at festival shows. I figure as a 2011 late addition to the 10C i'll likely never be front row or close to at a show as most North america shows are non GA.
I put in for GA only... for the experience of a outdoor show if i was lucky to win (AND I DID!!!). Fall tour I'll plan a trip to VEGAS / CALI, Seattle / Portland or elsewhere and be happy to just be in the building!!! If GA didn't happen fro me for Chicago... I'd have gone and scored other tickets if circumstances allowed or not gone at all.
Lucky for me i scored the current grail of tickets as previously mentioned.

I think maybe I can help answer your question. My brother and I only put in for GA. Luckily we won but if we hadn't we wouldn't be going to the show. The reason is that we live on the east coast and we don't have all the money or time in the world to travel to see Pearl Jam but at the end of the day we can cut the necessary corners if the stakes are high enough. Seeing Pearl Jam with GA seating at Wrigley fits that bill. However, if we didn't win, we could have sat this one out knowing that they are planning a fall tour and will almost certainly be playing several shows in our area. Make sense? I don't think that's too irrational.0

No way, being way up close for football and hockey sucks, need to be up where you can see everything.DURP wrote:For football or hockey games I want to be as close as possible.1998: East Troy 2000: East Troy, Rosemont 2003: Champaign 2006: Chicago (UC), Milwaukee 2007: Chicago (Lolla) 2009: Chicago (UC), Chicago (UC) 2010: Noblesville 2011: East Troy (PJ20), East Troy (PJ20) 2013: Chicago (WF), Seattle 2014: St. Louis 2016: Chicago (WF), Chicago (WF) 2018: Chicago (WF), Chicago (WF) 2022: St. Louis 2023: Chicago (UC), Chicago (UC) 2024: Chicago (WF), Chicago (WF)2025: Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh0 -

This for a ton of us.
I had originally ranked lower and then GA. changed to GA only on Wed AM as didnt have a 100% committed ticket buddy (14 Hour drive away). Would make it work for GA otherwise would plan (and likely still will) a two or three show fall trip to the NW, Vegas / LA or elsewhere.
That being said I won. Potential ticket buddy still needs to convince his wife.... otherwise will have a extra GA ticket.IF NOTHING IS EVERYTHING, I'LL HAVE IT ALL.

Absolutely agree that the problem was the lottery. Most of these people that are pissed put in for a normal lottery, your name gets drawn first, then you get your section depending if it isn't full yet. Most of the ones that put GA first got shut out completely. That's why they are upset. The GA is probably 1,000 people at most. Wrigley field holds 25,000 in the lower bowl not including the field http://www.thecubdom.com/features/wrigleyfieldseatingcapacity.html. Remember A LOT of fans don't post on the forum on a daily/weekly or even monthly basis that were shut out too. Either way, Pearl Jam hasn't sold out the United Center, which holds 20,000, their last 4 shows in Chicago, Wrigley will have plenty of available seats come Saturday, she holds 41,000Chicago 6/29/98, Alpine Valley (EV) 6/13/99, Alpine Valley 10/08/00, Chicago 10/09/00, Phoenix 10/20/00, Orlando 4/12/03, Tampa 4/13/03, San Diego 6/05/03, Vegas 6/06/03, Phoenix 6/07/03, Chicago 6/18/03, Alpine Valley 6/21/03, Orlando 10/08/04, D.C. 10/11/04, Chicago 5/16/06, Chicago 5/17/06, LA 7/12/08, Chicago 8/23/09, Chicago 8/24/09, LA 10/07/09, San Diego 10/09/09 (Front Row Center, Finally), Phoenix (EV) 11/4/11, Wrigley 7/19/13, Phoenix 11/19/13, Denver 10/22/14, Wrigley 8/20/16, Wrigley 8/22/16, Tempe (EV) 3/3/19, Phoenix 5/9/22, Tempe (EV) 2/26/230 -

As has already been mentioned I think folks had the thought processes of:
"They don't tour all that much anymore so this is a really cool chance to see them"
BUT
"It's gonna cost a boatload to travel to Chicago, etc."
SO
"If I score great seats ill go and eat Ramen for awhile"
OTHERWISE
"I'll just hope I can catch them closer to home."
This is not intended to be negative in any way but the relative scarcity of Pearl Jam shows is what is driving this behavior. No, I do not feel the band has any obligation, I am just saying it is just the natural consequence.0 -

My number is shit so I'm always in the back. And for any band I love, GA is the only way to go. I'll be there without a ticket and chancing it.0

It has to be that they feel they can rock out more than being in an isle with seats :P and they can scream at Ed to sign their breast ..jesus greets me looks just like me ....0

I just think GA is more fun. At any show. I will always try for GA before anything else if there is a pit. For me, it's more exciting and I feel more energy in there. It feels like more of a party, and I like to party.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata0 -
