Boots could be made available for pretty much free. There is no exra cost to the band to produce boots. They record every show anyway. To record the basic tracks before they are mixed for the house p.a. is a straightforward simple process these days requiring nothing more than an external hardrive and a laptop. then if all these were given a quick general mixing (i would say this could be done in an hour for each show).
Then they are torrented (with a database of torrent files on here for example) rather than hosted by servers.... Voila! Each show would probably cost them roughly an hours pay to some member of the sound guy's crew.
I have no problem with PJ making some cash on the deal. In fact, I encourage it.
We all know that PJ has been more than liberal with the distribution of bootlegs. They have turned a blind eye towards the private trading between fans, virtually relinquishing millions of dollars in profits in doing so.
