Here's what's happening. The band will release a record In June go on a small tour in the fall.
The record will compare to Backspacer as there is no gas left in the tank, the last 2 records say it all.
I hope I'm wrong, but lets face it they are a band really in name only these days, they have turned into a full on corporation and only concerned with the all mighty dollar. In the last few years they really are playing festivals and prime east coast locations. As soon as Boom showed up the music changed big time. Rule number 1 should be no keyboards or organs in pearl jam. Beat it Boom
I miss the angry band of the mid '90's. also Matt Cameron should go back to soundgarden full time, he drums too fast and has changed so many songs, many for the worse. Jack Irons can you hear me, call Ed and tell him you want to play drums again. Dave A is first choice but obviously he ain't an option.
I am a massive fan of this band, the music and what they stand for. Will listen till the day I die, and Lukin was my wedding song.
So strange, I love Backspacer and disagree with everything you said except the "need more anger" part....and that probably means limiting the organI know I was born and I know that I'll die. The in between is mine.0 -
Hey! The Doors pulled off angst & organ.http://www.reverbnation.com/open_graph/song/1783688
"Come take my hand, and let yourself rely.
Don't hold your breath, don't close your eyes.
I've learned to breath and I've learned to fly.
I've learned to see and I know I'm going higher."0 -

It always amazes me how people can't or don't want to understand that every band grows up and changes. They're not an angry 90's band anymore - get over it! I'm not an angry 90's teenager either so it suits me fine. As for the last few years, I must have dreamed they toured Europe and Vedder released a solo album and toured it home and abroad less than 12 months ago.
And this theory that Jack Irons would suddenly solve a drumming problem when clearly there isn't any problem to solve. He stepped in to lend his support when needed and HE left on his own accord. Matt is the longest serving drummer we've had and I sometimes think it sounds insulting saying he doesn't fit. He's a phenomenal drummer who's added a lot more than just hitting circles.
New album expected - a US tour is coming up - they played Europe in 2012 - PJ20 was by all accounts legendary. I just don't see how people see that he band is in some sort of trouble? What MORE can they do? As I have said before, they have worked hard the last 20+ years to put themselves in a position where THEY choose what to do and when to do it. Its evolution baby, its just another groove in their history. I can't wait!"Life comes from within your heart and desire"0 -
Thanks Mango for reading my mind. You rock. Oh and the demos BTW, they're great!
