OK, I'll come clean: until recently I thought Beyonce was an opera singer.
I just can't stand the whole lipsyncing thing. If you can sing...sing loud and live! Even if you fuck it up, I appreciate the honest effort.0 -

That's not how pop music works anymore... you HAVE to sound perfect...

Straying a little maybe... but I believe that concert tickets and information when buying tickets should have to include a statement that lip syncing is part of the show when it is used. Otherwise I believe they are falsely advertising their product.
As for the national anthem at the inauguration? Really? Can't sing it live? Wow. Just wow. That is pretty stupid.hippiemom = goodness0 -

Because the president won a second term and white men just found out that being a white man no longer makes them always win.

I agree with your sentiment on concerts where DANCERS pretend to sing.
...
As for the National Anthem... at big events, those are often pre-recorded to which the on field performer sings along with. What we hear is the recorded version played through the P.A. system (or through the engineering booth to the broadcast), the mic'd singer on the field and all of the background stadium sounds. The reason being, you do not want the National Anthem (which isn't the easiest song to sing) screwed up at the Super Bowl or World Series Games. A Wednesday night game between the Padres and the Mets... not a big deal. Game 7 of the World Series... a different story.Allen Fieldhouse, home of the 2008 NCAA men's Basketball Champions! If you are worried about a screw up at a big LIVE event, then don't have someone pretend to sing at all. Heck, if you are worried abotu a screw up, we need to stop having live events all together. I'm looking at your Bill Buckner.hippiemom = goodness0 -

Cincybearcat has it.
I've watched or seen, (can't member but at least I know Beyonce is not an opera singer :P) anyway, she has great talent. but now, I've a new opinion of her. What, she's too good to error?
As for the bangs, guess we should be grateful this is all the news has to talk about.0 -
It was a beautiful version. But. My personal preference always is at a live event, I want to hear live music. That's all, no recordings. I was sad that it was a recording...but I wasn't there anyway.Falling down,...not staying down0

Cincy, we both know white people only care about this because the president is Black.
jesus christ that was a stretch armstrong kind of move there...but I am giving POD the benefit of the doubt, I don't think he was serious.
I have no problem with them doing it at special events like this...I just don't understand why someone would pay money to see someone do the same thing at a live show. If I paid for the tickets specifically to watch someone sing, they better be singing...but here, I can understand why the backing track was used.that’s right! I agree. It is a live event and the person should have rehearsed the song 100 times before the live performance.
It is people at the top... the promotions/production types that want to make sure everything at these grand events... the Super Bowl, the Rose Bowl, The BCS Championship... that want the bullshit festivities to go off without a hitch.
If it were up to me... At the Super Bowl, the National Anthem would be played by a Marching Band with the Marine Corp Color Guard at mid-field... and a fly over by a local air unit. Halftime would be the Marching band going up and down the field playing J.P. Sousza songs, old school/1967 style and all of the commercials would be shown at halftime only.
If you are watching the Super Bowl for the National Anthem sung by some pop star... or for some bullshit halftime show... well, you can grab your purse and go into the bathroom and check your make-up instead.Allen Fieldhouse, home of the 2008 NCAA men's Basketball Champions! Go Jayhawks!

Exactly! Who the fuck cares! Concerts are one thing but this shit is just lame and silly. As much as I hate pop music, that girl can sing. Bad choice to lip sync but in reality, who fucken cares.. Come on man seriously, look at what you're crying about here..... :fp:0 -

I think she lip synced her live performance at the super bowl interviews yesterday. Sound eerily like the version at Barrack's ball, which was really her live voice just played via a tape. Or something like that?????
