I saw the documentary "Searching for Sugar Man" this weekend and am now a little obsessed with the musician Rodriguez who is the subject of the movie.
Here are links to the trailer and an article...

I heard about the documentary in passing recently, probably because it's nominated for an Oscar, but never heard his music until last week when a friend at work was listening to it.
Saw the movie yesterday, bought the soundtrack to the movie today and played it on a loop all afternoon. Love his tone.
I wonder if there are any South African Pearl Jam fans on here who can attest to his popularity in their country.
I grew up with parents who had quite an extensive record collection. I remember hearing "Sugar Man" on the turntable a few times and when I lived in Australia back in 2000, I was re-introduced to him by a flatmate. The guy had a cult following not only in S. Africa, but Australia as well.
I've listened to Cold Fact 3 times already since last night.
Great Album!!
Can't believe one went for over $300 on the Bay today!
Bob Dylan eat your heart out! :corn:

Apparently he's performing at Coachella and I received an email earlier today that he's performing at the Beacon in NYC soon too. Hope I get the chance to see him perform.
"I Think Of You" and "I Wonder" have played many times the last two days.
Great music. Even better story. I'm glad he's getting recognition now.
I'm from South Africa and its true, we grew up thinking that Rodriguez was a star around the world.
Found myself crying in the cinema while watching it - and I wasn't alone!
He's touring South Africa again next month and I am so disappointed that I am out of the country.
Incredible. That moment when he walks out on stage for the first time to the bass line of "I Wonder" broke me. The power of a crowd cheering at a concert... amazing.
"Cause" is the song playing on a loop today.
Listening to Cause right now!!

Cold Fact is amazing, and his humility is astounding. Such a cool film.

Going now to try and find the music..
Go to your local and search. iTunes also has some...
Hope the movie wins the Oscar this weekend and generates even more interest in his music.
Love it. Also love this... Backstage, producer Simon Chinn explained that Rodriguez wasn’t at the ceremony because “he genuinely doesn’t want to take credit for this film. ... He’s genuinely a humble man and he wanted to stay at home in Detroit and watch it on television.”

So weird, but you know, sometimes you can be big in Belgium.
I think it's all about how audiences find access into music.
I really hope he gets to make music the rest of his life now.
