Actually it has everything to do with borrowing money.

That's the only way the bills get paid, and by bills I mean other loans. Since the credit card example was used I'll do the same thing. We have a credit card with a $5000 limit that is maxed, so we get another credit card to pay off the first and get a little more revenue and now we owe $6000. Well, that $6000 is maxed so we get another credit card with a $7000 limit and max that out to get a few bucks and pay off the $6000 card. It goes on and on.

They also have so many hidden inflations that are really hidden taxes. That's why the middle class is hurting, not because there isn't a $15 min wage to a burger flipper. The Fed prints fiat currency out of thin air and devalues the dollar even more.

Americans used to thrive when the "Dad" worked.

Then the "mom" had to work so they could afford some nice things and vacations.

    Then people stopped saving.

Now people are forced to borrow just to live. It creates wage slaves and people complaining that minimum wage isn't enough.

Meanwhile the real solution is to stop the quantitative easing and get something to actually back the dollar. Fiat currency has failed every time over the history of the world, and it will fail again because it isn't backed by gold or silver, it's backed by debt and spending and out of control inflation.

This isn't Democrats vs Republicans. This is the banking elite against everyone else. ONLY the banking elite stand to profit from the way the banking system is built. The rest of us suffer; and have our wages destroyed by inflation and out of control printing of the federal reserve note.

I hedge my bets and invest in real money, gold and silver. Fiat currency will die off.

    Oh this you are correct.

Banks have made sure that they can legally steal from you, con you, swindle you, cheat you and lie to you.

They will continue to do this.

But that's not really related to the debt ceiling.

I don't claim to know everything about everything. The one thing I do know is that both Republicans and Democrats are full of shit and have dug themselves into a hole that sooner or later will implode.

    And we keep re-electing them.

    :fp:

And your solution to this is what, exactly?
    A new political party

economic terrorism is what is at play here. Boner siding with a minority in the party AFTER his re-election is bullshit. Lets have ANOTHER vote 41 or 42 times now to repeal the ACA.

If you are so fucking concerned with spending and/or the debt ceiling , how about you lazy fucks actually pass a budget and go to conference to resolve the gaps between the house and senate , instead of posing at your press conferences.

    Its beyond tiresome.

One area of cost savings is the paycheck they receive for part time work. How about until you actually do the job you were elected to do, you forego pay. AND pay for your own fucking insurance.

I hope that if there is a shutdown, ALL government entities are impacted because the PUBLIC needs to see the ignorance that has become the norm for this CONGRESS.

Congress has the public believing that only blacks, Latinos and illegals will be impacted by a shutdown because only welfare payments and food stamps will be impacted. What a bunch of bullshit. What the PUBLIC doesn’t understand is that CONGRESS and its employees only, unlike any other federal offices, would not be fully impacted by a government shutdown. Their paychecks, their benefits, their insurance and yes, even their student loans which, YOU, the TAXPAYER pay, are protected. So Cantor and his little gang members can talk this talk and walk this walk because THEY, nor THEIR families, nor the families of those sponsored interns are at risk – unlike the PUBLIC they were ELECTED TO SERVE.

Let’s talk realistic. In a true government shutdown

 No military personnel would be paid – Our forces, because they are designated emergency personnel would still have to report to duty. [They could be killed in the service of their country – during a tea party shutdown of the government.]

 Take a survey – your military families are eligible for and receive both food stamps and welfare assistance if a child is being cared for while they are gone. Here’s where grandma and grandpa is truly impacted with their social security and Medicaid and Medicare needs, unlike the scare tactic of death panels.

 Let’s talk securing America – All federal (Pentagon, intelligence, State, local, even township law enforcement that receive Federal funding would be impacted by a shutdown.

 All public educational institutions and those private institutions that have programs supported through federal funding would cease.

 College students could be required to pay out-of-pocket on the portion of their loan that was not covered under the shutdown.

 All government subsidies programs for corporations, farmers, medical research would stop.

The one and only reason that this Congress keeps wanting to get rid of ObamaCare is that the big insurance companies will face the same fate as Ma Bell – wherein - the public won because they ended up being able to pick and chose what telecommunication was best for their needs. Doctors would no longer be obligated to HMOs or sponsored corporate hospital insurance plans, they could incorporate with more medical facilities opening up in community areas. Sure the big names will survived, but, new blood will be injected into the system, and look where we are now Wi Fi and global.
SIN EATERS--We take the moral excrement we find in this equation and we bury it down deep inside of us so that the rest of our case can stay pure. That is the job. We are morally indefensible and absolutely necessary.

I tend to agree with this, although people aren't "forced to borrow just to live". They choose to borrow to buy items unnecessary for living.

    really?

Try telling that to the woman who had to pay for her kid's medicine and food with a Visa because her bank account was empty after her rent was raised and her hours were cut by her employer so she would lose her health insurance.

the debt ceiling has nothing to do with borrowing. If they decided to raise the debt ceiling to $100Trillion that doesn't mean we are borrowing up to $100 Trillion.

Look at how many times the debt ceiling was raised under Reagan/Bush. The GOP is making it seem like an issue when it really isn't. The spending is the issue....thanks to unfunded wars.

    yes and no.

The debt ceiling is the amount to which the Treasury can borrow money (sell securities) to cover the outlays already approved by congress. so yes, the debt ceiling allows us to borrow more money, but no the Treasury department is not the one actually approving the spending of the money. They are not responsible for the debt, they are simply charged with managing it.
The debt ceiling being increased by those that approve the deficit spending is rather crazy. I do know some sort of balanced budget would be a good start to never having to discuss the god damn debt ceiling again. It is an obfuscation of the actual spending addiction that plagues this horrible mismanaged congress. Republicans digging in on this issue are being intellectually dishonest because they have done just as much to cause the need for a raising of the debt ceiling.

Re-writing history seems to be the play of the day in democratic and republican circles.

what did this help when it happened under Clinton? What HARM will it do to the average American trying to make ends meet?

Should our men and women in uniform who are STILL in harms way have their pay delayed?
Seniors who can ill afford to wait for their EARNED SS, should they have to decide which bill or med to not pay or get?

The house GOP are terrorists and should be charged with crimes as such. Send them to Gitmo, a place THEY chose to not do their part in closing.

I dont believe I have said any such thing.

What I have said , is I wish they would do the job they were sent to do and legislate.
You know, come up with a budget THEN sit down with the senate to work out the fucking differences. Continuing resolutions speak to, do the same fucking shit expecting different results. Thats a classic definition of insanity.

The Tea Party is dead, it was taken over by neocons long ago.

John McCain is everything that is wrong with Washington. He is no voice of reason.

I'm good with the end of the GOP. But understand that shortly after the democrat party would fail. I welcome both.

Just to elaborate I'm for the full and total collapse of both the GOP and the Democrats. This is all a game to them, nothing changes no matter who has the keys, and we sit here and bicker about one vs the other, left vs right. That's exactly what they want. While they have their known names up front pointing fingers at each other, the rest of them then pass bills that take away freedoms, cost us wealth, and build bigger government. Both love war, both love the banks, both love companies like Monsanto.

When one party collapses either the other will too or a real alternative such as the Libertarian party will rise up. Democrats vs Republicans? It no longer exists. It's either pro-liberty or anti-liberty. It's either Libertarian or Authoritarian. C'mon people, wake up.

Attached is a run-down of the affects of the government shutdown ... which after reading the list, the term "government shutdown" should be revised to "parks and recreation shutdown". Implying that our government is actually shutting down is very misleading. :|

Tossing hot potatos and finger pointing is all Congress is good for. And pointing at shiny objects to distract the public. They are not interested in the good will of this country. Their only purpose is to show how the other side is bad to get votes.

I've read about a dam for Mitch McConnell in Kentucky that had an estimated build of $750M that they only approved $3B, and they sent deceased Frank Lautenberg's wife a check for $174,000.

Frank Lautenberg was worth an estimated $58M when he died.

I'm sure you can google more.
