I used to get signed basketballs & bats from my clients, but they just ended up in a closet, so now I just get the occasional baseball signed, even if the person isn't a baseball player.
I’m slowly getting rid the piles of boxes of cards that I accumulated as a youngster. The “junk wax era” cards may be going into the recycling bin. Tried to unload close to 100lbs of cards from this era to a bulk dealer, but for the $10 he offered, it wasn’t worth my time to load it in my car and drive it to his shop.
The 1991 topps cards mentioned above really weren’t worth much either. I sold a lot of 100 of the “glow back” cards for $5.
Anyways, the tanking of the value of baseball cards in general has allowed he to purchase a lot of the kids I desired as a kid for cheap. Mainly late 50s - early 70s stuff. Minnesota Twins players especially. Only need to score a 1955 Harmon Killebrew to close out my collection.
Not sure. probably 1970s. this one is definitely THE opening day of candlestick, 1960.

That is cool!!!
How do you get your hands on so many? Are the buntings your thing?
buntings are not necessarily "my thing." they obviously take up a bunch of room. I got all of these from people who reached out to me. here is a picture of Mays batting on Candlestick opening day 1960. the buntings are behind him. I estimate there were 12 with pitcher, 12 with batter and 24 red, white and blue.

a banner; not a bunting. it is canvas and measures about 2.5x4’. laraine day was a 1940s-50s movie star. this non smoking/drinking/cursing Mormon married giants manager leo durocher- a smoking drinking curser. Laraine was probably the first female interviewer in sports. her vintage microphone is in the display case.

The car market is on fire/ I am about ready to sell all my cards.
Just received back 6 Lebron rookies from grading. 5 years ago they were worth $5. Now they are worth $800 each.
It is? maybe I should trade in my Honda then. 🤔

I’m not a crazy sports collector but I have a few items I’m proud of: - signed Tom Brady jersey (framed on the wall of my man cave) - Home run ball by a Blue Jay batter I caught when I saw Roy Halladay’s last start as a Blue Jay above the Green Monster at Fenway Park. (placed on man cave bookshelf) - A bunch of memorabilia from SB XLII in the garage. (Would have meant more had the Pats Won lol. Oh well 6 out of 9 in the Brady years ain’t bad)
The fact is, I have little room to display any sports memorabilia because of all the framed PJ posters and framed original issue vinyl on the wall 😂.
I bought a box of 2009 Bowman Prospects when they first came out. I opened the packs, and thought nothing of any of the cards. Nine years later, when I realized I may be sitting on something very valuable, I looked through the cards, but, sadly, no Trout card!
