This topic always makes me want to throw up....
I had literally hundreds of autographs from dynasty-era Edmonton Oilers.....they used to do autograph sessions at West Edmonton Mall...I think they might still do them, but not the way they used to. The entire team was spread throughout the mall, two per table, and people lined up for sigs.....they handed out small glossy photos with (if memory serves) a short bio and stats to be signed. No one worried about the sig market, or personalizing their sigs in those days. They just signed whatever you gave them......I had multiples of each player on those glossy sheets. I also had autographed cards....I bet I had 10 Gretzky opeechee rookies, and multiples of the rookie cards of every oiler great. I gave them all to a friend when I outgrew collecting cards :fp:
These days, i have a few autographed jerseys and some autographed pics....I have some basic stuff that my dad gave me - the Edmonton Journal cover from the day of 'the trade'....but all those signed pics and cards....brutal to think how much money I gave that friend....actually....he's on my facebook....I should ask if he still has them

It is very confusing these days with so many types of baseball cards.....you need to be a semi-genius to open a pack of cards and determine the rarity of each variant/refractor/autograph card.

Back in my day, we only had Topps, and we were thankful! :?

Two years ago Topps got a monopoly with MLB and put Upper Deck out of business. Score and Donruss had been gone for a while, and Fleer hung on a little longer than them. So now it's Topps, but with like 15 different sets they're putting out. Not quite sure about the other sports.

I think my Holy Grail piece of sports/movie memorabilia would have to be the baseball from The Sandlot

I wonder if somebody has that thing somewhere.

My father and I have collected for the past two decades. I would have to say that the autographed memorabilia I am most proud of would be as follow:

1927 Yankees World Series ball (murder's row)
    Peyton Manning jersey
    Johnny Unitas picture
    Hank Aaron ball
    Al Kaline bat
    2009: Philly 3 & 4
    2010: Newark, MSG I
    2011: EV Philly
    2012: Philly MIA
    2013: Wrigley, Pittsburgh, Buffalo, Philly 1 & 2, Baltimore

Mostly stuff I care about and is valuable to me.

I have a Jim Kelly autographed jersey that is signed to me. I have a Andre Reed autographed football. I have Thurman Thomas autograph on a piece of paper. I met him his rookie year at training camp in Fredonia. I also met Bruce Smith and have his autograph on a piece of paper as well. I still remember how big Bruce was then. I have a couple of Jim Kelly autographed cards one is on the old Dominos promo cards it's pretty cool.

One of my favorite things is a old Buffalo Bills poster I have. It's from 1982 before they started putting players on posters. It's a artist print and is very cool. I bought it from a fellow Bills backer in Columbus. I think I paid a dollar or two for it.

I also have a Bills helmet that I got as a kid at Christmas. It's old but it's cool and I like it. I have a mirror with the Bills logo that say Mike's Bar. A starting lineup figure of Dominik Hasek still in the package and a whole bunch of Bills football cards along with quite a few Michael Jordan cards.

  • cool thread. I'm cleaning out a closet and have boxes of cards from mid 80s to early 90s. lots of jordans, griffeys, bo jacksons, shaqs. Any suggestions on how to get rid of this stuff for a few bucks? I don't have the time to do each card individually online. so much for the tens of thousands I thought they'd be worth! it was great fun though
