Yeah, maybe where people drink pop they drink a lot of it. But outside of ginger ale, and the occasional fancy soda (big fan of the san pallegrino blood orange), not a lot of soda in this house or many others that I go to. I might have a soda with takeout or the occasional crisp delicious ginger ale. But yeah otherwise, it's water, coffee, beer, wine, whiskey for sure. Doing Dry January so have really amped up the first two the past ~10 days.

Your super bowl winning coach is interviewing for the bears job…
He should be coaching next year. Either there, Miami or Jacksonville.

Jaxville would be absolutely perfect. Miami is dumb - if they fired Flores, then I'd assume they'd do the same to Doug.

Nice.  I do it for 30 days leading into Memorial  Day every year.  I like it.  (Not enough to do it all of the time!)
Do you find you sleep better?

I have seltzer water always on hand for mixed drinks.  I love a coke but it is horrible for you so I try to limit.  After the last time I bought some I said I wouldn't buy any more for a while.  Some things it goes great with.
If I'm not able to drink a beer, a coke is great with a burger or some pizza.
In general, tea and then water for the rest of the day.

Oof, good on you - beautiful weather would stop me from trying to do that for a month.

I'm not sure about the sleep yet, I'm assuming it is, I have other issues that prevent me from always getting good sleep (shoulder problems). I think I'm still in a bit of a detox mode (irritability, urges, etc) but I figure the closer I get to the end of the month I'll be able to feel the benefits moreso. Gonna be a tough one watching a Birds game - let alone an Eagles playoff game - without touching the sauce.

If we're going soda I'm a big fan of the ones above and Cherry Pepsi (when hammered combined with a cheesesteak) and Mexican Coke. But, yeah, soda is super bad for you, especially because of high fructose corn syrup.

Tea at roughly 9AM. Cappuccino at 10:30'ish.  Water.  Tea around 2. Water. Water. Water. Herbal tea usually in the evenings.

Diet coke at the hint of a hangover

Did the dry January a couple years ago. Think I made it over 3 weeks. But I might do it again next month beginning the day after the Super Bowl. I find it almost impossible not to drink during the playoffs.

Also, February can go fuck itself. Maybe forcing myself to do that during the worst month of the year would make it more tolerable somehow. Take my focus off the shitty weather and short days. Then POOF....along comes March, spring time, and golf weather---and your Juggler will rise like a Phoenix in Arizona once again.

Wait a minute - Dolphins fired their coach? My man almost got them into the playoffs with a garbage QB - ridiculous.

  • Keep an eye on the officiating in any games where the Pats/Bucs are close with their opponents throughout the playoffs. You know the NFL wants that superb owl match up. If teams are being blown out, it won't matter. But if it comes down to late drives with little time and a score to tie or take the lead? Yup, questionable officiating will come into play.

I had quite the scare early this morning. Came across an article whose headline made it appear as if Tom fucking McCarthy was going to be behind the mic for the game on Sunday. Thankfully, it's just the radio broadcast. He's calling the game with Jaworski actually. Dodged a bullet there.

I hated Buck years ago. Have grown to like him though. He seemed like a pompous asshole back in the 90's and 2000's. Not so much now. Finding out he's a PJ fan always helps too.

McCarthy, on the hand, elicits a visceral reaction from me that almost always results in me puking in my mouth.

I've stated here, or in the baseball thread, that seeing Joe Buck on Brockmire totally  changed my view on him.  He may be an ass, but he can be a funny sob and point the fun at himself.  I can appreciate  that.

His partner Aikman looks like he still parties like he as in his 20s.  Some game days he looks like I feel.

I think his Stern interview a few years back helped his reputation too, especially since he kind of got emasculated by Artie back in the day on that really bad HBO show he did briefly. I've always liked Aikman as a commentator.

And that podcast Daddy Issues is pretty good!

Had a dream last night we won 45-42. It was 21-21 at the end of the first quarter and tied 31-31 in the second quarter. Then I turned off the game or had to do something and missed the rest of the game. Went online later that day to find out we won.
