Wowwwwww - I'd say his cap hit isn't even that bad until, at the very very most, in 2026:

And even that could be considered low by the time we get there, at the rate the cap - and QBs are getting paid - keeps going up.
Just need to keep working the draft.  As you do well ans your assistant Coaches get poached the team should make sure they work to try and hire minority candidates.  Also hand out the right contracts to fringe players who improve.
More picks = more chances to get the fliers right...and damn, so many of those picks are toss ups.

The love he receives is the love that is saved

And you know Howie will restructure before it's up. He's a mad scientist when it comes to the cap.

Really need to take advantage of these next few seasons...

So wait, hold on, Matt Patricia is working for the Birds now? Man, I do not think Slay is going to like that one bit.

...yes? What am I missing here? Is there some legit beef between him and Darius Slay I'm not totally aware of? He's had a pretty good track record, except as a head coach....

Good luck with that condescending egomaniac.
Just cause the guy's an actual rocket scientist doesn't mean he can always act like the smartest guy in the room.
    This weekend we rock Portland

I don't know though. He was their offensive play caller last year. But he's a defensive guy. Maybe as a position coach, but I don't think that's what he's being brought in for. And if you're Desai do you respect this move without looking over your shoulder?

I feel like a lot of those NE guys are products of Belichick and Brady's success.

He was the DC there for like 6 years though.

Senior Defensive Assistant sounds like the kind of job where he's there to just give advice to Desai. I doubt they'd bring him in if there's any ill will between him and Slay. I think people were overreacting yesterday just because they associate him with the Pats or something. And I could be wrong, but it just kinda seems like a more formal position than what Vic Fangio had...

I hear you, it's probably not worth all this, but that's also kinda my point. Is this move really worth the upside as opposed to the downside? You don't have to watch this whole goddamn thing, but where I have this clip start off is the beginning of what I'm trying to articulate through to what Berman says is on point. Incredibly short-sighted:

Yeah fair point. And I saw the dvoa stuff in their article. Berman makes good points here, always does.

I mean there's the possibility that he adds some useful knowledge, I guess. But it really seems like undermining to Desai and that's not even considering the Slay thing. And the mediocre NFL coach recycling facility thing too.

I bet most people will have forgotten he's even here by October.

Draft day is upon us, eh?

If they keep both picks, I would be thrilled with Nolan Smith and Gibbs. But knowing Howie, we're either trading up or down.

Yeah he seriously could do absolutely anything - any version of Nolan Smith/Jalen Carter/Paris Johnson/Christian Gonzalez at 10 would be amazing. Outside of those guys I'm all for trading down in both spots. Personally, I want (in order of preference):  1) Gonzalez 2) Carter 3) Johnson 4) Smith

Sounds like the top-end QBs might be dropping (Stroud/Young), and fringe 1st/2nd round QBs (no 5th year option for 2nd rounders), may be incredibly beneficial here. If they could move down from 10 to like 13 or 15 would bring back big returns. And if a team wants to pounce for a later 1st round QB guy that they want to guarantee that 5th year on that could be huge as well.

I'm picking the highly glamorous Peter Skoronski, Northwestern offensive lineman.

So we settled some tampering with Gannon and essentially moved up to 66 for 94. Don't even care we gave up the 5th round pick. IHWT.

What the hell do you give up to move one spot? Too much I'd say. But Carter's going to be a beast.
