It began under President Bush! I hate to burst your bubble! Began under TARP with BUSH! The whole platform is based on the principle of our govt. should only spend, what it brings in. Its that simple. If you take that philosophy and apply it to reality with economics and fiscal policy, then you have a conservative ideology that the media loves to pick apart and demonize. If you can take the media out of the equation, and the the President is black, the entire platform makes sense and MOST of the American people would actually support it.
Do you have the power to take media out of the equation? I bet not!
I would welcome any evidence that the Tea Party, in the form we saw under President Obama, began under President Bush.
I know you would, however the Tea Party began with Tarp which was very close to Obama's election win! It takes time for a million person march on DC to materialize! Sorry it was on Obama's watch! Its not about race....its about principles! You should read up on the platform and apply it in a common sensical manner.Theres no time like the present

So I can expect evidence that the Tea Party in its current iteration began under President Bush, that it was not a knee-jerk panic reaction by a largely white segment of the GOP base to the election of this country's first black President?___________________________________________

your words have a secret agenda there....notice it? Any movement takes time to materialize in "its current iteration". The Tea Party began as an idea under Bush as a response to TARP! Got it yet? Or is this pill too hard to swallow? It began about the same time Hillary Clinton created the BIRTHER MOVEMENT! Got it?Theres no time like the present

Look man this babble is really getting old. What media pray tell do I watch? Enlighten me. What is it you think I am not studying, I'm judging a group by its actions. You seem to know so much about what I watch and what info I'm privy to.
Please come back with answers to the above questions, as opposed to more attempts at deflection.0 -
One has to be there or attend 3-8 events for them to understand the true meaning and goal of a movement!
How many Tea Parties have you attended?
Exactly....so how can you judge? You should be smart and know the media's agenda is to thwart you and the image of the Tea Party, therefore, if you are smart....you would then attend a few to see for yourself!
Thats smart!Theres no time like the present

I have relatives in Staunton, Virgina, visited them around Christmas time 2 years ago, went to a meeting. Funny that, you talking about judging.0 -

And that's your opinion. My opinion is that the Tea Party is raked with people who freely allow others do their thinking for them, bigots and racists who try and mask their ignorance by exclaiming they have a mandate. This "take our country back" nonsense is nearing it's end, the American people have spoken and shown these kooks that their mandate no longer represents that of the normal, decent, hardworking american.
It is called fringe politics for a reason.
Oh and what do I care if you grew up a bloody democrat? How does that even factor in to what we've been talking about?0 -
The National Debt is not a myth??? Damn if it were....i could be a liberal.
Lets just pretend it is......and we will ignore any consequences it may bring.

we have been talking about "attending" or "being part of" the process. I am involved in the process to see the truth and take the media out of the picture. Me growing up a liberal Democrat has alot to do with it. It proves that I wasnt raised from a conservative ideology, it shows that I imput myself into it from learning facts, and applying common sense to fiscal matters. It shows that I was empathetic to those who are poor cause i grew up poor. It shows that I am a legitimate and valiant opinion here on the train and my stance is one with merit. Thats why it matters. I can relate to both sides!Theres no time like the present

It's all well and good to say that you learn from facts and all that, and yet I have read some horrible posts about Islam and the like from you that would suggest to me otherwise.
With respect to my comments about Liberals/conservatives, I really don't care what colors someone wants to paint themselves in, it doesn't give someone any more creedence with me. If someone says something I disagree with, I'll call them on it.0 -

The government without a doubt needs to cut spending, which I think is the OP's point. I'm not really sure how anyone can argue that fact. I also think that tax hikes are needed. All this talk about the tea party and race is just a distraction and dividing us from what needs to be done - spending cuts and entitlement reform. The problem is that members of congress do not want to make the tough decisions (because they just want to be reelected) and the American people don't want to make any sacrifices.2003: San Antonio, Houston, Dallas, Seattle; 2005: Monterrey; 2006: Chicago 1 & 2, Grand Rapids, Cleveland, Detroit; 2008: West Palm Beach, Tampa; 2009: Austin, LA 3 & 4, San Diego; 2010: Kansas City, St. Louis, Columbus, Indianapolis; 2011: PJ20 1 & 2; 2012: Missoula; 2013: Dallas, Oklahoma City, Seattle; 2014: Tulsa; 2016: Columbia, New York City 1 & 2; 2018: London, Seattle 1 & 2; 2021: Ohana; 2022: Oklahoma City0

I wholeheartedly agree that both tax hikes and spending cuts are needed to fix this mess. Maybe that was the original point of the thread, maybe not, but it went in a different direction when the OP posted:fear4freedom wrote:I have a great feeling that if the Tea Party heightened with a white president, it would have taken much more of a stronghold in our political system! I dont see any issues with the Tea Party Platform itself! The media has ruined it! Its a shame!
That brought us into the discussion of race and its role in the formation of the Tea Party.___________________________________________
