EV Phoenix show
It's been a GREAT year!!0 -
Mine was in Missoula. 1st time I really traveled to see the band and really enjoyed meeting other 10clubbers.
You better travel to the Gorge if it really happens.SPEEDY MCCREADY wrote:My best Pearl Jam moment?
Seriously, it was the fact that there wasnt a Pearl Jam moment.
Hear me out, on this one.
I am proud of myself for not traveling to Florida, Philly, or Montana. I am happy that over the last 4-5 years I have been able to break my "Pearl Jam traveling addiction". Dont get me wrong, I had fun over the years, but traveling to shows is something I no longer need to do. I am happy that many of you older fans still experience nothing but "Pure Joy", when traveling to see the band. I am thrilled for the newer fans, who are traveling to see the band for the 1st time. I hope you all get to see 10-20 shows in 2013. But for me, I am just happy that I was able to beat my little traveling addiction. If Pearl Jam comes to Chicago or Alpine in the near future, I will see you all at the shows. Until then, Have fun!#FHP0 -

My best moment was taking my 16 year old son to his first Ed/PJ concert at Ed's second Vegas show. He later told me that he knew Eddie was a good singer but didn't realize he was that good!

So, 2012 was one HUGE Pearl Jam moment for me (6 shows in Europe, Missoula, 2 EV shows in Austin, 12.12.12 Sandy Benefit show, countless new friends), but if I were to isolate particular instances that stand out (in no particular order):
- Given to Fly in Prague right between the 1st and 2nd verses around when Mike starts jumping and of course everyone else must follow. I've always loved that part of GTF, but Prague was my first PJ show in 2012, it was the beginning of my awesome vacation, I just had two awesome days with new friends in a beautiful city, ran into Stone that afternoon by the Charles Bridge and realizing I could jump around without fearing for my life in the pit (I was 3rd row Mike's side for this one). So amazing. Shout out to Cheryl, Rob and Tracey, my pit buddies for this show
- Berlin 2 during Yellow Ledbetter when Ed goes, "everybody's smiling!". Was on the rail Stone's side for Berlin 2, and Ed was not happy for most of the show. He was really concerned with the crowd, Berlin was definitely the roughest of the 6 shows I went to and he was visibly upset. It also didn't help that his sound thing wasn't working and kept having to stop (on the boot during the improv instrumental they were trying to fix his sound pack thingy). However, unhappy Ed seems to make for more intense shows and this ends up being one of the best shows I've ever attended, but I was really worried the whole time. Until Yellow Ledbetter and I knew everything was OK
- Glacier National Park with Kyle, Shawn and Eric day before the Missoula show. Had never hung out extensively with any of these guys before this, was worried I'd be trapped in a park with some crazies but they turned out to be the coolest cats ever and we had a great time. No one got eaten by bears
- Jimmy Flemion joining Ed on stage Austin night 2. Jimmy was so wrought with emotion, Ed's clearly had a huge impact on him and his brother's lives and it was so special to witness. Seeing mutual respect like that amongst musicians always warms my heart and validates all the amounts of time and money I spend to be part of those experiences
- Seeing Soundgarden at the Bowery Ballroom, 500 person venue in NYC the day after Austin 2. Chris Cornell did a solo Sandy benefit show and Soundgarden came on for 6 songs. Yes, I know Soundgarden is not Pearl Jam, but this happened so soon after my Austin trip and the PJ-related part of this is that I got to be the closest I will ever be to Matt Cameron on stage. The drums are normally so far back on the stage that I can't really see Matt Cameron's face when he drums and part of what I love about going to live shows is being able to see the band's body language and facial expression. Anyway, I was maybe 3rd/4th row deep at the Bowery show (no barriers so front row was literally leaning on the stage) and it was a really tiny stage, so I could see Matt the whole time. He's so much fun to watch, when he's not pounding on his drums, he's sitting there with a huge smile on his face.
- Crowd roaring when Ed comes on during Comfortably Numb. I love that Ed is such a rockstar even to the masses without needing to go through any of the antics that most other rockstars do
- I WUFF YOU!!!!!!!!! Being gifted with my Holy Grails even if one of them wasn't really PJ related. You guys all rock!
- Running into Ken from Dublin during every single PJ/EV show I went to this year. Priceless.
Crap, that was a long list. Oh well!

I am happy for you just reading that list! The love he receives is the love that is saved0 -
Missoula of course! If I hadn't been so sick that weekend, it would have been way better overall, but my first PJ trip and meeting some of you meant a lot to me, and I'm not sure the show itself can be outmatched, since it was my first, and GA, and I was so close to the stage surrounded by great people; the experience just came together for me at that show to basically give me 3 transcendent hours, and my illness was literally cured by music and the vibe for that small period in my life, to the point that it almost felt like magic.

RNDM was pretty awesome too though - i met Jeff, Joseph, and Richard, and i am madly in love with that album.Post edited by PJ_Soul onWith all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata0 -

So many this year!
1. Rediscovering pj after a hiatus and what the music means to me now and remembering what it meant to me back then...
2. Hearing all those boots that you all know already for the FIRST TIME on fresh ears. So many wow moments (and more to come as I collect more boots)
3. Set list threads... Every one of them that I was lucky to be a part of were so much fun especially the EV Vegas Sirius thread when we listened to the entire first set and it started all over again and we hung in there just in case it went through to the end in the hopes that we would hear Black solo... and we did! That was a thrill!
4. Best of all... Leaving it all behind for 2 days, flying to Tulsa to meet my brother who is one of my best friends, to see EV solo. EV. BLEW. MY. MIND. AND...I got to thank him after. One of the best moments ever!!
I'm beaming thinking about it. Thanks pj for a great year! You reminded me how to have fun. I can't wait until 2013... I gotta get UP FRONT!!!
Happy New Year all!

The hug from Mike in Missoula as he took Sammy's bracelet to wear all through the show. Sharing the moment with my Crooked Heart Girls. The look on Sammy's face as my Secret Santa gave me a copy of her amazing photo of said bracelet on Mike's wrist during the show.
