I'm assuming the OP is trying to get a reaction. Right?

    yep

I guess it's ok for a pot smoking country singer to refer to a certain group of people as "the blacks" but take a possible Republican candidate who refers to the same group as "the blacks" and suddenly he's racist? Makes perfect sense.

    Comical but sad.
That's why I'm here on the AMT, to help.

Like how you helped us with pointing out that Mitt Romney would be elected President? viewtopic.php?f=13&t=198347

I don't think that saying "the blacks' " is racist in this context ... Isn't that just exactly the same as black people, possessive plural? As in, "the Blacks' vote. The Hispanics' vote." That is very clearly what Willie meant. Anyway, I think there is plenty of evidence proving that Willie Nelson is not in any way, shape or form a racist. If someone out there is offended by his phrasing, then that is unfortunate, but intent has to be involved in racism. Simple linguistic confusion doesn't create racial hate. Context is important too. The context of the term was very, very different between Willie and fuckin' Donald Trump (who, btw, I think is actually going senile).

And that's your opinion. But based on the numbers of "the blacks" that Donald Trump employs....well
  • anyone who claims he's racist is plain ignorant and lazy on the subject and hasnt bothered to do basic research that takes 2 minutes on google.

Willies politics are clearly left wing, radical, and hippieish. Willie has appeared on stage or sung with ray charles and wynton marsalis. Sang with Norah Jones and wynton on a tribute album for Ray. Duet songs with Ray Charles and Julio Iglesius. Has shared the stage with people like Carlos Santana. Is supportive of indigeounous rights. His most recent album has a collab song with Snoop Dogg. Was in the movie Gone Fishin which costarred Danny Glover and Lynn Whitfield. Half baked with Dave Chappelle. Swing Vote with Paula Patton.

For someone thats a racist, the guy is friends with a lots of people of color, latino, african american, native american, etc...

The OP sort of doesnt even deserve a response.
  • again, willie's disagreement with obama is pretty much my own. obamas a right centrist democrat. a war monger. torturer. believes in militarism, global expansionism and hegemony, and drone attacks. He clearly believes terrorism is a problem that can be won by invading another country. Disagreeing with obama on these issues doesnt make someone a racist.

Anyone can spend a couple minutes looking up the causes willie has supported the last 40 years. He's way left of center. Clearly much more a radical left winger than a regular democrat. he's supported releasing Peltier for example. And Farm Aid isnt exactly an issue Democrats or Republicans have been on the forefront of.

Its sad when honest talk about the president and his actions is misinterpreted as racism. Racism exists, and should be stamped out of society. But anyone who thinks this is an example of it is sorely mistaken

    I didn't vote for OBAMA
    I'm sure Willie didn't.
I will not defend his choice. but i'm sure RACE has little or no factor in his choice.

Mine is economics and foreign policy (I'm retarded)
