I am not defending the lobbying influence of the NRA, I think they can be ridiculous.
in their defense however, the massive conference you speak of was actually the annual meetings and was scheduled long before the shootings if I am not mistaken. as a side note, the infamous cold dead hands speech was given in Charlotte not Littleton, where most people attribute it to because of Michael Moore. I am not a member of the NRA, but their tactics are no worse than any other lobbying group IMO...
The westboro baptist church is built on hate and a belief in God's divine wrath striking children down because the US tolerates LGBT folks and pre-marital relations...it is a ridiculous comparison.
well ... they canceled the NY city marathon after Sandy ... sometimes compassion and prudence take precedence ...
in any case - this isn't about whether the church and nra are the same ... only simply that they both practice division and hate ... it's similar to when people compare anything to hitler or the nazis ... the immediate response is always dismissal and ridicule ...
most groups that push extremist agenda use division by fear tactics ... the nra is no different ...
I agree with you Mike. I sometimes think emotions get the best of us when talking about stories like this as it really disgusted most if not all people.
however, I will give you an example of how the NRA has a message of division and that was the commercial about Obama children.
I hadn't seen that ad until you brought it up, playing devil's advocate here, do they not have any point in the ad?
IMO, the plan isn't feasible in anyway and not a very good way to present it, but I wouldn't necessarily call it a message of division, at least any more dividing than most political commercials.
that's strange I have seen that ad many times and I live in Canada. but to answer your question they do have some point but the way it was portrayed was not correct.
here is the commercial and you tell me if this is not created a division.

I watched it before I posted. I don't think it creates any more division than any other political ad.
I agree, they have a point but it is not at all a good way to have a discussion. Although it makes me sad, I really think this way is the only way to be heard in the discussion unfortunately...I still don't know why we think every crazy thing that happens is preventable in some way. But that is a different discussion
NRA is a strong lobby, I don't like strong lobbies, but I am glad we agree that they are NOT the WBC. That is letting the WBC off the hook of what they really are

Awesome, thanks for sharing that link. I love the signs that other people made to make them look stupid. I know a lot of people would disagree with this but I think people need to go at them like the old school union busters. Put on some masks and beat them into the hospital. After a couple times they will go away.
Police - What did you see?
Everyone - Nothing, don't know what you're talking about.

I don't know if beating up people that you don't agree with is the best path.

Generally, no, but for them I would make an exception. It goes way beyond disagreeing.

Gotta say, there are some I'd not feel bad about seeing the shit pounded out of them - and this group is among them. Hateful people who seem to take pleasure in bringing more pain to the already-suffering.

This ad is moronic- the kind of ad you might see mocked on a Family Guy episode for its sheer idiocy.
Obama's kids need more protection than everyone else's kids. This has been said already numerous times, but to deny it is ridiculous. Look how many reasonable people on here absolutely seethe when they read the man's name. Now factor in the lunatics out there that sit on the same side of the fence. He would be a fool to not insist on protecting the most important items in his life. And, one would be a fool to ignore his need to.
What was the point about Obama wanting to tax the wealthy elite? How is this linked in any way to the point of the message? It was just tossed in there like a burp in mid-speech.

Nice to see some defecting from that ugliness.
violence to those whom deserve it is a fantastic act & a must.

It is not a church from what I have heard, it is a cult. You have to be a relative of the owner/founder to be in. They go to these events and try to get people to assault them so they can sue. It is a money grab. The sickest lowest forms of life without breaking the law.

That Foo Fighters clip was funny and an awesome way to go about it.

Im telling you they want people to assault them so they can sue. That is why I suggested sky masks.
