Show #2
Set List

01. Brain Damage (played behind front curtain)
02. Sometimes (curtain raises at start of song)
03. Long Road
04. Can’t Keep

(Ed reads this news story to the audience.
http://spdblotter.seattle.gov/2012/11/2 ... le-attack/
He says “what a waste of good ukulele. How about write a song on the ukulele and you can afford to buy the beer.”)

05. Sleeping By Myself
06. Without You

(Ed says the next song is the one his children wanted to hear most from the “Ukulele Songs” album

07. Hey Fahkah
08. More Than You Know

(“You know, heroin changed my life. I wouldn’t be in the band I am in if it wasn’t for that deceitful drug. It cut short the life of the band Mother Love Bone and it ended the life Andy Wood their lead singer. I think about him a lot. So, I wanna play this one for Andy”)

09. Needle & The Damage Done-(Young)
10. Unthought Known

(Ed’s daughters bring his guitar out to him for the next song)

11. Man Of The Hour

(Ed wants to dedicate the next bunch of songs about Chris McCandless to another explorer and adventurer on his 50th birthday. Matt Cameron)

12. Setting Forth
13. Far Behind

(Ed had heard that a woman had travelled from Argentina to come to the show. Her tickets were in the back of the theater but she got upgraded to the front row. He thanks her for coming and says if she travelled [some people shout out where they had travelled from including Rome and Puerto Rico] He says, “Here is some traveling music for you.)

14. Guaranteed

(Lots of people are shouting requests especially for “Black.” Ed says “Did I hear someone ask everyone to shut the fuck up? Because sometimes I only hear what I want to hear. So yes, I would like a nice cold beer and an omelette.” Ed then goes on to talk about his friend Wilton Dedge who had been wrongfully convicted of a crime. Even after DNA evidenced proved he didn’t commit the crime he spent another year and half in prison going through the process. Ed got to meet Wilton while working on the West Memphis Three and is happy and grateful Wilton can be at the show tonight.)

15. Rise-(for Wilton Dedge)
16. Long Nights w/ Glen Hansard
17. Driftin’

(Audience is shouting more requests, especially Black, and some woman makes a high pitched squeal/gurgle. Ed asks if she is okay. After a moment she replies “No.” Ed says “You will be... not knowing the situation but trying to shed some light on it.” He then goes on to talk about small towns and how a town can seem smaller once you have left it and grown as a person and then come back to see it. “One of the great things about real small towns is they give you a desire to get out”)

18. Elderly Woman Behind The Counter In A Small Town
19. Parting Ways
20. Lukin (with Slow Lukin intro)
21. Porch

Encore Break 1

(“One of the best things you can get in life is finding a job you would do free. The other one is finding the perfect partner for you. It’s hard because people change and grow and it is beautiful when you can grow together.”)

22. Picture In A Frame-(Kathleen Brennan/Tom Waits)
23. Just Breathe

(Ed is wondering what to play next. He gets a consensus request for the next song but before he plays it he talks about Willie Nelson covering “Just Breathe.” He notes that he got really high and listened to the song about 20 times in a row and the next time he went to play it with Pearl Jam all he could hear was the Nelson version.)

24. Off He Goes
25. Loud Uke

(Ed talks about various jobs he had including collecting shopping carts and stocking coolers. He talks about how marijuana made for interesting cart pick up patterns and how singing The Who albums while stocking coolers could freak out customers.)

26. Society w/ Glen Hansard-(Hannan)
27. Sleepless Nights w/ Glen Hansard-(Bryant, Bryant) Not busked.

(Ed talks about Woody Guthrie and “This Land Is Your Land.” He talks about taxes, “I pay a lot of taxes, thanks to you, but I don’t want to see that money going to wars. There are bunch of CEO’s complaining that their taxes are going up. Well they aren’t going up. They got cut twelve years ago and they are going back to the rate they were before that. It is like these guys have been drinking at the bar for 12 years for free and now it is time to pay for their drinks. And you know what? They can afford it.” So this song is about something and it has great last line.”)

28. This Land Is Your Land w/ Glen Hansard-(Guthrie)
29. Falling Slowly w/ Glen Hansard-(Hansard, Irglová)

(Ed says he heard about another person being killed and the “Stand Your Ground” law being invoked. “I understand protecting yourself, but when you stand your ground someone else ends up laying on the ground. I like guns as much as the next guy...if the next guy is the Dali Llama. It seems like Florida and Arizona are in an arms race...I mean we do all sorts of weird stuff in the northwest. We smoke pot, go to gay weddings and throw axes. If you are going to do something. please, do it respectfully.”)

30. Rockin’ In The Free World-(Young)

Encore Break 2

31. Hard Sun w/ Glen Hansard-(Peterson)

Actually the guy showed up late, was 1st row dead center - and when he sat down he immediately started recording Glen. Joe (the super awesome security dude) told him to stop recording right away and then Glen thanked Joe and said that it was ignorant.

4 shows - 2 tulsa - 2 Orlando and i loved every second of it! Such greats sets .... such a great feeling in the rooms and the crowds in Orlando (for the most part) were extremely well mannered. That was so much fun i really dont want to think about it being over.

Have fun to the people who still have 4 or 2 or 1 more show(s). Hope Ed and Glen continue to hit homeruns every night!!!!
  • Incredible set list and incredible performance, once again, Mr. Vedder. Man of the hour, Long Road, and The Needle an The Damage Done! Ed was also very chatty- which I just can't get enough of! I also had the fortune of meeting Ed's wife in the bathroom of the Sheraton before the show, and that was pretty awesome. She is breathtakingly beautiful and very kind. And seeing Ed's beautiful girls on stage with him was really special! Wish the crowd was better though- just didn't feel that awesome vibrant energy that I have grown accustomed to tonight. Overall, another stellar performance and I can't wait for FTL!!!

Needle and the damage done! He said it was a request. I requested it in the Orlando 1 thread. I'm going to believe it was for me:) THANKS Ed! I was listening to the vinyl of neil young before this tour started and I said to myself---"it would be awesome if ed would cover this"---I was floored when I saw he was covering it this tour---so happy to hear it.

4 the row center with my Wife---such a better experience up front for us(couldn't believe the 3 seats on either side of us were empty). Ed reciprocated a peace symbol with me right before he left stage---that was all I needed:)

Thanks Ed for such a great experience---soundtrack of my life for last 20+ years---it is a gift that keeps giving

I'm not sure how to start my fanview, but I'm still completely struck by how amazing the last two nights have been. I was fortunate enough to meet Edder prior to tonight's show where a small group (4 of us) were standing away from the larger group on the other side of his bus. After he met for a few moments with the larger group, he jobs towards us and shakes each of our hands. I told him last night's show was amazing and he asked if we had any requests (thought he asked the other side too, nope just us as I found out later). I requested LONG ROAD and the other three wanted Atlantic City by Bruce Springsteen. He grinned at both responses. That was enough for me to be happy with until I heard him strike the cords. I was in pure heaven. A song I've been waiting to hear live for so long, came at my request to Eddie himself. Magical.

I had great seats and everyone around me was very respectful. For the most part, the crowd was did its part to make it an enjoyable evening. Highlights are all throughout the setlist, but Long Road, Man of the Hour, Parting Ways, Off He Goes, Driftin', Long Nights, Rockin' in the Free World, This Land is Your Land. But you can't go wrong with anything he plays...

Just an unbelievable few days. Keep on Rockin!

So the interesting thing about this is that before Ed told the story, he asked "Is my friend Wilton here tonight?" The guy directly in front of us (who had been shouting out requests for "Black" between almost every song up to this point) yelled out "YEAH!" and waved his hands around. Ed goes on to tell the story and he asks Wilton to stand up but when he does not stand up, Ed says something like "I guess he's shy".

Before that, my wife and I were pretty much rolling our eyes and laughing about the requests for "Black" and whatnot but after this, we just kind of looked at each other sheepishly, shrugged and said "OK..."

So AAAAANNNNNNNNNNnnnnnnnnnywayyyyy... during the first encore break, I lean forward and ask this gentleman how long ago he met Ed. "Wilton" replies to me "Uhhh... I've never met him. I'm not the guy he was talking about."

So the question is: was the real Wilton at the show?
  • Well...where do I begin...I attended the Orlando show on the first night and let me say Eddie and Glen put forth a truly wonderful performance. Cool surprise with bringing Bronson Arroyo(Cincinnati Reds pitcher) onstage. He is a good musician in his own right. Ed performed every song I had hope for and more. I have seen the band numerous times...but this show was right up there performance and production wise. But wow oh wow...there were some legitimate rude and people that were taking themselves way too serious. Having an ongoing monologue with Eddie during his talking segments...that's a little self important isn't it? But if you had to use the restroom during a break people did not have the courtesy to make a little room to pass through...some lady yelling sit down and ow your stepping on my feet...move people have some common decency. When my wife and I were returning from a break from the restroom, I went to open the door for her and some young women(I use that term very loosely) kicked the door open and smashed my hand between the substantial metal handle and the wall. She laughed and walked through us. I thought she broke my hand..just extremely swollen and deeply bruised. I understand the seating access is awkward..but come on. I've been to festivals(Lollapalooza'92) and much heavier shows(tons) with mosh pits and all and people were way cooler and better demeanor. I not here to whine for sure. I just can't get over the sh*tty behavior from a PJ crowd. Also this beauty...after the show we went by the exit door by EV's tour bus and this dude was walking around with a guitar. EV came out and made an extremely short appearance...no worries the guy was probably tired totally understood. But the guy with the guitar when EV just got on the bus...started freaking out screaming FU!!!FU!! FU!!! over and over and shooting the bird towards the bus and cursing EV out. Nobody said anything but me...I said Really??? Your a total idiot. What self entitled moron thinks Ed should stop and sign his guitar so he can sell it on E-bay.. would do such a thing? I was in awe. And truly ashamed to be around this doosh. The texting and facebooking obsession in the crowd was also extremely annoying and tired. Anyway...great show but man can't help but think the crowd was filled with fly by night fans that had no true appreciation for Ed,Pearl jam or the music.

I arrived late, after the first few songs, because I drove late from Tampa.

Lovely playing and singing. Good setlist. Loved This Land is Your Land and Society again. Thought it was great to hear a Needle and the Damage done and Picture in a Frame too. I love Picture in a Frame, it's such a beautiful song and Ed sings it so well!

I agree with what a few other people have said. The energy wasn't really as good last night as it was at the two Jacksonville shows. Maybe it's because Ed had to deal with more people interrupting? I don't know. :eh:

I was just glad I could make it there because I almost didn't! :)

Wilton was the old guy with the long grayish white hair. My friend from Toronto met him.

Anyone else think cold beer and an omelet is a weird combo?

Thats the new rockstar thing. When you're done with a show and its 4 am and you dont know if its late night for a beer or early for an omlette, just have both!

    Hey fortheloveofpearljam,

I think I was sitting next to you and your friend. I was the guy wearing a Slayer shirt. I'm not a big fan of Slayer, but I thought it would be funny to wear it to an Eddie Vedder solo show just so people would look at me like WTF?

Great show but I thought night #1 had more energy. As for the hecklers, I keep thinking back to what Lemmy from Motörhead said to a stage diver when I was a kid. He said if you want to be on stage, grab a guitar and start practicing.

I feel the same about the hecklers. No one paid to hear you shout out your favorite song or your favorite food (from night #1).

Someone had the idea that the crowd should just yell, " This is not for you" everytime someone yells a song.

I thought that was a great idea.

BTW, did anyone mention that Ed plays that organ after the curtain goes down? It sounds like some kind of song from a pirate movie. :D
