Show #1
Set List

01. Elderly Woman Behind The Counter In A Small Town
02. I Am Mine

(Ed tells the audience that he can’t believe he has only been here three times.  He says if the crowd is good he will report back to the guys in Pearl Jam.  He also tells the audience they are going to be here for a while so take advantage of the seats.  “I have also noticed that out in the audience...(guy in crowd yells “turn your fucking phones off!”  Ed says, “my phone is off.  I turned it off before I came out here.  If you see a phone on it is some other asshole.”  He then notes that the they are having trouble with the lights which is causing them to turn on and off. It isn’t part of the show and they hope to have it worked out.)

03. Can’t Keep
04. Sleeping By Myself

(“the ukulele kept the sad songs from being too sad.  It was just light enough to keep out suicidal thoughts.”  He talks about a book on knots he got and learned to tie a noose.  His friends didn’t appreciate the joke when he sent them polaroids of him with a noose tied to a beam and around his neck.  “The only reason I could write a happy song is I finally met the right girl”)

05. Without You
06. Light Today

(Ed talks about being about 18 or 19 and having to move back to Chicago because he had no money and no job.  He tells of riding busses and sitting at cafe tables where customers have left half cups of coffee and drinking those and getting refills.  He also spent time at the library looking at music books and learning chords for songs.  One of those songs happened to be the song Sean Penn asked him to do for “I Am Sam”.  Ed knew that song from his days spent in the library.

07. You’ve Got To Hide Your Love Away-(Lennon, McCartney)
08. Wishlist

(Ed tells a story about when his daughter was about three  “sitting in the back seat of my car singing ‘Hollaback Girl’ and she has my squint, so she is back there singing ‘it’s my shit, it’s my shit..’ looking totally bad ass”
“The other song she would sing is”...Ed then sings and plays a little bit of ABBA’s “Fernando” changing the title lyric to “Orlando”.)

09. Good Woman-(Chan Marshall)

(Ed’s youngest daughter brings out the guitar for the next song.  Ed comments, “That is a good woman”)

10. Better Man
11. Far Behind
12. No Ceiling
13. Guaranteed
14. Rise-(Dedicated to two great kids that aren’t directly related to Ed.  Griffin and Haley)
15. Long Nights w/ Glen Hansard

(some knucklehead in the audience keeps yelling gibberish at Ed.  Something about mashed potatoes and gravy.  Ed asks him what he is going on about.  The guy then yells “Ed ate all the leftovers!”  Ed jokes, “If I was George Bush and gave people nicknames yours would be “Leftovers”.  Audience laughs and cheers.  Ed then says, “you know there was a guy a few shows ago that was just yelling nonsense.  Nobody could make out what he was yelling.  Well, the guy wrote an email to us and apologized for being so drunk and acting so rudely.  We thanked him and sent him a link to alcoholics anonymous.  True story!”)

16. Immortality

(Ed recalls a story about playing a place called “The Edge” back in 1991 or so.  He talks about the terrible steroid freaks working security.  Ed started to climb on I-beam and one of the security guys went after him and they ended up having wrestling/jousting match on the I-Beam.  Ed managed to escape and dive into the crowd leaving the security guy holding his flannel shirt.)

17. Porch

Encore Break 1

18. Last Kiss-(Cochran)
19. Just Breathe
20. Pump Organ
21. Unthought Known

(Ed’s friend Bronson Arroyo comes onstage to play with Ed.  Ed says he doesn’t normally play this song.  The last time he did it was for a $5,000 donation to the Heal EB charity. http://healeb.org  He had heard that Bronson could play the song and was in town so he thought he “would play it again for free.”  He does ask that people donate to the charity if they can.  “This will work better if you guys sing along like we around the campfire.  Can we get the campfire turned back on?”

22. Black w/ Bronson Arroyo (playing acoustic guitar)
23. Society w/ Glen Hansard-(Hannan
24. Sleepless Nights w/ Glen Hansard-(Bryant, Bryant) busking no mics or PA
25. Falling Slowly w/ Glen Hansard-(Hansard, Irglová)

(some guy yells ‘Glorified G’.  Ed says, “What’s that?..we are never ever getting back together?  Is that what you said?”  He then notes that if Jimi Hendrix was alive he would have been 70 years old today. “And he probably would have lived next door to me.  Me and Jimi, hanging out, smoking some pot.  Mike McCready on the other side.  Hell I wouldn’t even need any pot just those two guys playing would be enough.”

26. Crazy Mary-(Williams)

(Ed switches to acoustic guitar and plays another outro round of Crazy Mary then segues into...)

27.  All Along The Watchtower-(Dylan)
28. Keep On Rocking In The Free World-(Young)

(Ed only played a a little bit of “Rockin” and he played it slowly and quietly.  It was more of tag with “Watchtower” )

Encore Break 2

29. Hard Sun w/ Glen Hansard & Bronson Arroyo-(Peterson)
30. Dream A Little Dream-(Gus Kahn, Wilbur Schwandt, Fabian Andree)

    Speechless.

I never thought I'd hear Black tonight.

This show exceeded any expectation I had going in.

    I can't wait for night #2.

Just please hold your mash potato comments.

Was debating on driving down after Jax to see this show...and now, of course, I wish I had! Great setlist again...BLACK and Crazy Mary! And how funny... I was just telling the story about "The Edge" show when Eddie was climbing the beam and the bouncers were trying to take him down right in front of of us. I remember him saying when he got back to the stage that "it doesn't piss me off that they treated me like that, but that they would treat any human being like that". Wow...so true!

Hope tomorrows show is just as perfect...enjoy! :D:D:D

Okay, I only have Jax nite 2 to compare (3rd row center pit). Great show, got to hear 15 different songs from Jax 2----Immortality was sick, strumming during crazy mary awesome, and ofcourse Black was awesome.

This crowd was loud and very appreciative for the most part. Sitting near some jackass that stood up and did some stupid spreading wing dance, felt sorry for the ppl behind him and cant believe they did nothing---he was very distracting. The Venue is soooo dated for such a big city. Having no aisles is a royal pain in the ass. My tenclub seats were not too bad but nothing like being in the pit. The constant piss breaks just annoying and everytime the side doors opened the lights from the hallway were a major distraction. I'm in the Pit tomorrow so all the annoyance will be behind me---thank God.

Why was there so much security in Jax and no where else? Are there future plans for that show to be on bluray or something. It made a huge difference.

  • Haven't seen PJ or Eddie in 3 years, since I moved back down to Florida... Tonight was way more than I could have ever expected! I mean holy shit, we got "Black!" That song was the song that made me fall in love with these guys back in 06 in Montreal... Not because that is my favorite song but because what I experienced while they played that song. It was magical. =)

Tonight was the perfect rain storm to satisfy me after my Pearl Jam drought! Can't wait for tomorrow and to see Eddie back at home in South Florida this weekend! =)

  • My fourth show of the tour. Just happened to be in town on business, with a night off. And, I mean, good God.

Like an hour and a half in I'm thinking, "This is a great show, but nothing I haven't seen or heard before." Then, next thing you know, Ed is out there singing Black with a pitcher for the Cincinnati Reds on guitar, with the entire venue drowning him out.

Just a cool moment, and a great show, and I'm sad this is my last for a long while.

Wow! Ed and Glen really brought it tonight. Thank you both so very much.

    From me and my son.
    Love is all you need.....
  • Driving back and forth to Orlando from Miami in one day not recommended but totally worth it...

Had a great time...met some old and new friends and got some extra dinars versions of songs I had not heard in my previous two shows,

Bumming about not being there tonight but can't wait for Fri/Sat...

  • what a special night --- i could see Ed dancing with his daughters during Glen's set. Black - Crazy Mary - All Along the Watchtower and every other song. Also i don't remember Ed making a real mistake .... he didnt have to stop and start over once :)
I shook his hand right after Watchtower. It was a really cool experience. 22nd PJ/EV show and the closest I ever sat.
And it was my gf's first concert of any kind. Pretty sure she is spoiled now. good luck living up to her new standards entire rest of the music industry. 8-)

    bring on night 2
  • Sounds like it was great show! I didn't get to go but my daughter went and said it was great. She said the crowd was good except for the guy yelling mashed potatoes???
    I can't believe I missed Black.

Hey...what is a "spreading wingdance"? I have to know.

Had 2 idiots next to me yelling JEREMY and EVENFLOW. Also, "Go get a real guitar". Fortunately they got up to piss and never returned.

    Awesome show.....
Most people with low self-esteem have earned it.

You must have been on the other side of him. Like you, I had no idea who he was, until chatting with his GF after the show.

Awesome show, love the poster (I live near/work @ Kennedy Space Center) and to see that poster hanging at the goods tent, I was in awe, and I hadn't even picked up my 10c seats yet. This was my first Ed Solo show and after that, i don't know if I want to go back tonight, but of course I will... ;)

    Awesome show.....

lol, kinda like something you'd do during given to fly or something---arms spread out with a slight rotation as if he was flying----he was totally shit faced---and he was doing it about every song for the 1st half the show. row G left orchestra---anyone in that area saw him---he was almost passed out by the end.

I know the screaming for songs that he doesn't play guitar on is just retarded. He may actually do a request if someone yelled out a song he plays.

Great Show nonetheless just wish they had the type of security provided at JAX. They were actually taking peoples phones and erasing their pics and the laser pointers were perfect. Pretty much anything goes at this orlando venue. Oh and glass bottles? REally?

  • Awesome show! Great set list!!
I had the mashed potato guy in the next row behind me..very loud..talked the whole show..apparently not even in his correct seat. I asked him to be quiet twice but it only made him more obnoxious...
Then I had the guy standing up with his arms spread out a few rows in front of me..and then there was the glass bottles falling to the floor all nite..:/
    The show was incredible...
My experience at Bob Carr not so much..
I could not believe how often people were leaving to get drinks or go to the restroom..it was a big distraction..between having to get up every second or having people in front of me getting up to let someone get by..and every time someone went out the light from the lobby would shine in..I'm all for enjoying a few cocktails but when I spend almost $100 for a ticket I would like to be able to enjoy the show..I couldn't understand why people would come to see Ed and leave the room so often ..
I was sad because it was really difficult to focus. And this was my first Ed solo tour :/ And its been a few years since I've seen PJ..Had tickets for the Georgia show a few months back but was sick and couldn't take the trip ..
Going to Lauderdale tomorrow nite and hoping to have a better experience.
  • There were no glass anything....aluminum beer bottles, plastic wine glasses and plastic cups. What is more annoying is somebody spilling their drink on a $35 poster..and not saying shit about it.
  • Unbeliveable Show!
I hope Eddie reads this because I was almost in tears listening to him talk about the dark place and the noose. I can't even imagine how I could have gotten through my own dark places without PJ and Eddie. My favorite saying is "Eddie Vedder makes it all better". So many times Eddie's voice has brought me back.
I was so happy to hear Black and Wishlist. I cried all the way through Black, it hits me on such a deep level.
My husband and I floated all the way home. Please come back to central Florida soon and bring the rest of the band!
