Walmart employees

sadly people are squeezed so tightly they feel the need to run out to save money they dont have. its an endless cycle.
example of the squeeze: decreased wages (work more for less $), food, transportation costs, healthcare costs (pay more get less)0 -

If I worked at Walmart, and they told me I had no choice but to work Thanksgiving Day...
I might have to tell the Boss to go to Hell.
Walmart is now going to be open Thanksgiving Day?
Seriously?
They cant wait till Friday to start the Holiday Shopping?
Why the fuck would they ruin their employees Thanksgiving Day by opening?
I dont know...
I know in dirty jersey it opened at I think at 8 ON THANKSGIVING.0 -
Wow food costs up too... costly a big Turkey feast

SPEEDY MCCREADY wrote:A lot of us back in High School worked retail, and I am sure there are others here, who still work retail. Working the day after Thanksgiving, working Christmas Eve, and maybe working New Years Eve, is just a given. It is part of working retail, right? But Thanksgiving Day is Thanksgiving Day! Give those workers the day off.
I worked retail in the 80s and was there for the holidays...people were like fucking animals just trying to get IN the store, let alone how they acted once they entered. Totally turned me off to the whole "shopping" experience - online's the way I roll now!
I wonder how much business they'll actually do on that day? Hope the folks working get some nice OT.0 -
I don't see the big deal. I mean it is not like walmart is the only store open. People who work at say Denny's or 7-11 have to work. Gas station employees probably do to, and google tells me that some McDonald's are open. Why should walmart be any different.0

At least all the employees get paid a decent wage and have good health insurance.

My wife works there. She gets a good wage, good health insurance, paid holidays and vacation, bonuses and the company gives her stock.
She volunteered to work late on Thanksgiving.#FHP0 -
Ever been to a walmart? There is a special place in hell for the people that work there.
Honestly, I don;t really have a problem with it. My wife and I disagree about this type of thing often. Black Friday can be family time too.hippiemom = goodness0 -
Nothing is sacred anymore. Not even a national holiday.
A truly disgusting example of greed and intimidation by Wal-Mart towards their employees.

I just dont get it.
Doesnt look like something I would enjoy.
Actually it looks like nothing but torture!
A store has 10 TV's marked down half price.
So 3,485 people line up in front of the store, waiting for the doors to open Friday at 3am.
Just so they can all run into that store, and beat the living hell out of each other, and walk away with one of those 10 TV's.
Wait a second..
Black Friday might be one hell of a good time!
Sounds like PJ ticket sales. Hey Oh!0 -

I avoid Walmart altogether because it feels like this ^^^ on normal days there. Black friday is like the human version of the Running of the Bulls. Saved $50 by camping all night and fighting to get shit you dont need? ...you couldnt pay me enough to go through that.Pick up my debut novel here on amazon: Jonny Bails Floatin (in paperback) (also available on Kindle for $2.99)0 -

Back when I worked for Wal-Mart as a cashier, I had to wear a tie. Imagine the outrage today!
I think they are probably paying the employees extra for working that day, but it is 8PM that night. If that time was so special, why will there probably be large crowds there shopping that night?
I don't think this is a big deal. The only people we should try to get even with...

I think there is some difference no? Black Friday shopping is one thing that I would never want to do, but some people love shopping, or black friday shopping is a "tradition" that friends or families do together. That's different than having to work a six hour shift and deal with ignorant and rude shoppers. My whole life

I read that I heard somehere on the interwebs or the televisions that only the Al Qaeda makes people work on Thanksgiving.Allen Fieldhouse, home of the 2008 NCAA men's Basketball Champions! Go Jayhawks!
