I find it a bit amusing that the people most likely to hold a negative view of the President and what he can and cannot do are usually the ones that understand our country the least. This works the same on both sides of the equation. The 'Bush Sucks' people of 2000-2008 were as politically inept as the the birther types of today.
The thing is... most of us are not on the moron fringes of the political spectrum and we understand the emmense task it is to run an operate a country... a representative republic such as ours. We understand that the President is NOT the King or Emperor of God who can just make things happen in the span of 4 years. America is a big ship to maneuver... like trying to turn an aircraft carrier on a dime. It ain't happening... it take time and effort of a lot of people... especially when people disagree on the direction we should be heading.
I just wish that people didn't think our elections were the same as 'American Idol' voting. I believe, if we were smarter voters, we would have a Legislative Branch that got an approval rating greater than 18%.Allen Fieldhouse, home of the 2008 NCAA men's Basketball Champions! Go Jayhawks!

Here's where I hope he succeeds:
1) Obamacare - I hope it helps and doesn't just add a ton of cost. Having pre-existing conditions removed from the process (meaning they have to cover them) is a great thing. A no brainer really.
2) Gay Marriage - I hope he can lead the country to a different understanding...one that allows the same rights for all. Enough is enough.
3) The economy - I hope the economy continues to grow (hopefully at a faster pace) and jobs are created. I fear his tax policies will hinder this and I don;t want to end up like Spain. I hope that we are on a good path and not just a flatline.
4) Energy - I hope he can help lead toward more energy independence. I would prefer it sooner with more US oil and then replaced by "clean" energy. But I fear we will not go that route.
5) China - it's time to get more serious with China regarding trade and their stealing of intellectual property. I would love to see him bring someone like John Huntsman back into the mix and let him loose.
Areas where I hope his proposals do not go through as he wishes:
1) Taxes - the tax system is so complex it is beyond ridiculous. DOn't simply raise taxes...look at the whole system and simplify. If you do that and still think you need to raise taxes, while I may not agree...it will be a lot easier to stomach. We give Mitt and the rich a whole bunch of shit for "hiding" their money overseas...but it is the tax code that encourages this. Only an idiot wouldn't take advantage of it if they can.
I'm sure I could say more on other specific topics, but those are the biggest. The economy is really more of an outcome from policy and other things than it is something that you can manage directly though.hippiemom = goodness0 -

i hope i am wrong but i don't see this being a factor at all ... it was barely mentioned in the debates and lead up to the election .. plus, if anything goes against big oil ... we can expect them to fund the appropriate people to make sure obama fails on that front ... just like what big-agri and the chemical companies did in california for prop 37
being focused on the environment in the states is akin to being a nerdy little weakling on the playground full of bullies. the only way climate change would be addressed in presidential debates is if it's democrat vs democrat.Gimli 1993

So since Obama was re-elected the DJIA has dropped roughly 600 points, the NASDAQ has dropped about 150 points, the SP500 has dropped 70 points, Petraeus has resigned and said some interesting things, and Israel is poised for war. Have I missed anything?0

"Petreaus has resigned and said some interesting things" Yeah, you actually did put his resignation under a list of things the president is apparently responsible for.

Actually the DJIA was never close to 7000 3 years ago or 14,000 for that matter since 2007.

where is your righteous indignation and where is your blame on obama for him allowing israel to commit war crimes in gaza??
obama is a war criminal for allowing this to happen. but the people who hate obama for other reasons are for some reason applauding him for his inaction on the gaza situation.

OK HERE WE GO!!!!!!!!!!
In Obama'a Defense: There are alot of people who would like to obstruct him in many ways. This will happen no matter who is president. Sure there are some racists out there that would like to take him out cause he's black. There are people who will go out of their way to deconstruct the office while Obama is in there. He is a good family man and represents us well from a global perspective. Many nations and people from around the world see us in a different way now. More people from around the world see us positively now. This is all a good news. America's potential image has hit a unique opportunity during these troubling times. One thing is America was so strong at one point that our strength, will and resolve continues on in pockets around the globe in cases of charity, aid, diplomacy, civil wars, etc. Many nations are more willing to deal with us because of their perception of Obama and America now.
My advice for Obama is to enhance his leadership skills and change his tone. He is too divisive and needs to embrace the opposition.....not polarize it! That is leadership!
My critique of the President: Obama's founding fathers, or role models of influence are VERY questionable. Do we really know who our President is? I think we should have vetted him more before voting for him. If everyone knew his past and his friends and his relationships, a majority of this nation would not have voted for him. I believe that Obama believes he is doing the right thing, however, I am pretty sure he is not experienced enough in economics or business to succeed at leading a nation such as ours. I think Obama would be a great President in many nations around the world, however not in ours. Our nation needs a pro-American leader, with a postive tone, to limit the size of our govt's role in personal and economical affairs. "The govt is not the solution, it is the problem" when trying to revive our economy. He is the wrong president at the wrong time. Obamacare will de-humanize the whole experience of recieving care, as if the experience is not bad enough already. It will be costly in monetary terms and social terms. It will be deadly to our economy. Jobs will pay less and the dollar will be worth much less. Inflation is a definite and hyper-inflation certainly could happen within 4 years. The facts are the facts and the truth is the truth, the debt will be 22-24 trillion in 4 years and the platform for the next president will be almost impossible to revive. We are too big to bail out, our depression would be 50 times worse than Greece! There is not much any other country can do to bail us out. We would have to fix ourselves and part of that would involve selling off our national parks, land, resources, etc. Unemployment norms now will be %8-14. We will not see %7 or lower in this next term. Obama is a divider....not a uniter, which was my biggest letdown this past 4 years.
I also believe that Obama had a unique opportunity to bridge the divides in this country and he blew it! I could have done 50 times better if I were the first dark skinned president. I guess that would come with mentality that I have built up over time, whereas Obama's deep belief system involves freezing the enemy, personalize it, polarize it! These tactics he taught and they make up the fabric of Obama! His fabric is not one of uniting color, gender, class, creed! Big problems will be a result of this division!
My advice: Mr. President, I know you have learned alot about your country over the past 4 years, would you please take it all in and show more pride in it. Can you accept our exceptional nature as everlasting and unique from other countries. Can you express that we are strong and have a unique responsiblity? Also, take what you have learned and forget some of your old tactics, and try to do whats right! Please try to balance the budget rather than print money and please can you try to create jobs from nothing. We have a capability to create wealth from nothing. We also can produce jobs that actually need the position filled! Mr. President, just because you can speak well and deliver it well, does not mean you are a good president. It is your executive powers and experience, and what you do with that power that makes you a good president!
I am in a hurry to get to church now...gotta go!
God bless this great nation!Theres no time like the present

Great post! I like your style. You can explain Americas problems without screaming racist or any other insults. Very intelligent post!“We the people are the rightful masters of both Congress and the courts, not to overthrow the Constitution but to overthrow the men who pervert the Constitution.” Abraham Lincoln0 -
thank you aerial! its easy to be constructive. I wish our President would be more open to building bridges of bi-partisanship....not real bridges with union jobs and taxpayer dollars.
I also believe that we should keep a hawk eye on Obama regarding a few things:
1. 2nd Ammendment and right to bear arms. Look at treaties and moves that sign away our sovereignty.
2. Patriot Act and other policies that give the govt. power to spy, intrude, capture or kill innocent Americans
3. Using the media in his favor to mislead the public and shape the publics opinions
4. Energy pursuit....will we pursue our resources?
5. Business ....will he build walls between money and ideas....or give entrepreneurs an open lane?
6. Israel....he gives them the right to defend themselves....so all you anti-s out there....lol
7. budget...spending! Will he cut spending and balance the budget?
We will see his true colors and performance now....just make sure you pay close attn!Theres no time like the present
