Vampire Weekend played a song "Unbelievers" from their upcoming album on Jimmy Kimmel the other day. One of those few "new bands" I get excited for.

That's how I stumbled on this. I don't watch Jimmy Kimmel and was just thinking they were due. Both of the first two albums were just solid fun front to back. I'm sure it's more of the same.

The Vampire Weekend cover of 'I'm Goin' Down' was the end credits song on the season 2 debut of 'Girls' on HBO. Here's a link to their version:

Loving these two new tracks, along with the Unbelievers track from earlier.........

This could be the sleeper album of 2013. This is good stuff.

  • the new album is awesome, I'm really digging it

I saw them at Agganis Arena in Boston last night and the show was a mess. The band's IEMs seemed to be cutting out which compromised their ability to harmonize and, I think, may have cost us performances of a few of the more delicate cuts off the new album. The sound in the arena was not the greatest, either - and the place wasn't close to capacity, much to my surprise. I'd like to see these guys again, they were screwed last night by either the arena staff, their technicians, or both. Maybe at Barclays in September...

All I am hearing is good things about this record. Even from non-original fans of the band.
  • I only got into the band about a month ago and it's been a fun ride. The new record definitely moves in a new direction, but to me, the pedal to the metal, summer-style, indiepop makeup of their first two records was unsustainable. The level of maturity displayed on the new album makes me think these guys are here to stay and should be taken seriously. The song "Hannah Hunt" is damn impressive. Ezra can write a little bit.

yeah def. a new but good direction from them. Only listened to it a few times, but very solid all the way through.

On my fifth listen, and while I really enjoy it, it sounds more like a solo album for the lead singer rather than a band's album. My favorite tracks are 6,7, and 11.

Bought the new album. it was nice. Not sure why they called it a double album though. It had 18 songs and it clocks in, in undr an hour and it's on one cd. Some nice tracks. Different than their previous albums.Couple songs with the lead singer from Haim on there, which were interesting.
