Quiet Place 2 was filmed all around my hometown.

The bridges at 2:00 are the bridges to the Island I live on.  They closed down bridges overnight, all the actors and Krasinsky stayed in the parking lot of my old elementary school and people put signs for them across the street in their front yards and stuff.  We have an annual kayak trip around the Island and it happened to be early in the morning, and it was bizarre/eerie to see all the "broken down", dusty cars all over the bridge.

But yeah lot of good ones. I have a few friends who host "First Friday Fright night in Phoenixville, PA. They show some good classic ones like Popcorn, Pumpkinhead, Poltergeist, The Warriors, Nightmare on Elm Street 3 & 4, Vampire Circus, From Dusk Til Dawn, My Bloody Valentine, Silent Night Deadly Night. This past month was Halloween III :D an d next month, Nov. 2 is Return Of The Living Dead (which I don't believe I've seen).

This January is not really a horror film per say, well I guess it can be considered one. Anyway they are showing both Grindhouse movies in their entirity.

February is Candyman (which I don't believe I have seen  )

Tonight they played Candyman in 35mm print  Pretty decent. Couple "jumping" scenes. Actually the one girl behind me jumped like 10 times  The urban legend was kinda cool, and his gimmick was ok.

    remake coming out this summer

I’m a fan of the original Candyman.  The original Clive Barker story is even better.

It's Robert Englund's birthday, so I'm thinking about renting this one. Anyone seen it. Worth a watch?

They are OK.  Not quite as fresh and neat as the first one, but they were decent enough horror movies.  They start to focus more on that psychic chick... which requires a lot of prequel material.

I decided to watch Insidious on Halloween (again)

Man, that was a fabulous movie.  I think I may call it one of the best horror flicks ever made.
  • Not a fan of either Sinister (paint by numbers as hell) or Insidious.

Put this in movie thread but like many I picked a "scary movie" to watch on 10/31.  Picked Hereditary
Good acting, well made, I did not like the story.
    At all.
Even read on what the people who made the film had to say.....nah, still thought the story was not great.

Looked at both Sinister and Insidious.  We picked between Insidious and Hereditary....and wished after that we went the other way.

I do admit to laughing out loud, hysterically, at this scene.

I thought Hereditary was great in the fact that it took me through kind of an unexpected ride, and it was original.  As far as desiring a 'scary' or horror movie I could see where it would leave one wanting.  It was one of those 'uncomfortable' feeling horror movies... much like Midsommar.  Both also played up the absurdity.  Get Out was another one

Ready or Not is a similar one, but went (expert level) on the side of being absurd, but in a good way.

I'm not a big Horror guy which explains why I had seen none of those three.
I have yet to watch Ready or Not but will at some point - the trailer looks good.

Ready or Not was great fun!

I still need to check out Midsommar.

One of my favorite recent horror films is probably The Witch. (The Lighthouse, same director, was in my wheelhouse as well and gives me hope that Pattinson will be a decent Bruce Wayne/Batman.)

  • Hereditary was bad. Midsommar was bad (SWEDEN!)

Ready or Not was the best movie I saw in the theatre last year.

Midsommar was just bizarre. Dumb ending.

Same for The Village. Great cast, acting, strange story, stupid ending.

  • Isn't at least The Village shot by Deakins? Only seen it once in the cinema, and remembering it looked great.

    Would like to revisit it.
