Strange order of kick ass tunes but this is why I love this band. Who wants to hear the same songs in the same order all the time? This is a kick ass set and a must have boot.

  • The Madrid show is the third one I see in the tour. The first one were Dublin and Vitoria. And, IMHO, this one was the best, followed by Vitoria. I'm very sorry, but I didn't like very much Dublin. The sound was really bad (I didn't hear the bass at all, and hardly the three guitars) and the setlist was not the best in my opinion. In Vitoria the sound was good and I think the band had a very good time. I couldn't talk for three days after so much singing...
But Madrid was special (it's my hometown, I know). After 15 years without PJ, people was really crazy, much more than in Dublin or Vitoria. And they start with Better Man... and then, more than 1 hour non-stop music. And, put apart a few songs, it was just like being in 1994: Ten, VS, Vitalogy. I eally miss some of my favourite PJ songs: Smile, Light Years, All hose Yesterdays, Save You (they played it in Vitoria), but, I must say that the times I listened to these songs live (bootlegs...) were not the same as in studio, specially Smile (why doesn't it have the same special, sharp, sound?).
It was also nice when Eddie said that...
-Next time, in one or two years, when we come back (people crazy...), G Bush won't be the president of the USA (or something like that) (people carzy again...) and then, they begin with World Wide Suicide...
I really think that today, they regret not having played in Madrid for 15 years...
By the way, the sound was not too bad ...

    I can't finish this without a mention:

  • which size was the arena? abd was it sold out?
  • I think the arena holds 18000 people and it was sold out.
I was at the Azkena and it was my first PJ concert, so it was special and unforgettable for me. I was very near the stage then and that's also why I lived that gig in such an emotional way that I will never live any concert like that again.

However the show in Madrid was amazing again. People roaring before the band went out. Surprising beginning with Betterman and all of us singing along. Many songs from Ten and VS. and very few from the last albums. The setlist was awesome although I missed some songs from Pearl Jam (Life Wasted, Comatose, Unemployable, Inside Job) which I wanted to listen to live.

Highlights: Betterman, Alive (unbelievable), Jeremy, Even Flow, Do the Evolution and Rearviewmirror.

From where I was I could see the band quite well and also everybody moving, clapping their hands, singing along.... Most of the audience were Spanish people and who said that we aren't that effusive? It was crazy!!!! I wish Eddie had spoken more but what he said was enough to make us go nuts. I hope they come back as soon as he said (1 or 2 years) because this had been a very long wait and all of us were eager to see them live in Madrid. I think the band looked more comfortable on the stage at the Azkena Rock Festival but this show was again unforgettable.

Thanks to PJ and to all the crowd for making this night unique.

Yay for Winnipeg! What a fab memory!
We're still making records for people who listen to it all the way through, eyes closed, in that space.
  • It was FULL Little Wing in Madrid !!! Amazing end of the song by Mike.

They played the tag in Lisbon thanks to our sign.Yesterday in Madrid Mike saw us and we didn't have the sign but he was remembering us from Lisbon !!! So during the first notes of yellow came to us and said "Little Wing!!!!". He played the first notes and then the band joined him. We got Ed to sing it too.

The best moment of the show was when Eddie came back for the 2 encore dancing like Michael Jackson. Priceless!!
  • Why's that?

My cousin was there, got a copy of a setlist, it's in Jeff's handwriting.

Hey! There you are again!! But it's not that nice to take me out of context!! I was talking about the Barcelona show, and here I am, in the Madrid forum. And I wasn't even at the Madrid show!! Aren't you being a little childish about this?? It was just a comment based on my personal experience. It meant no offense. And yet here you are making a big deal aout it. Got somethin' to hide?? Cheers!!

Mmmmmmmm... I don't know about that. I've met many, many, many worst than me. It will do you no harm to open your mind a little and accept other people's opinion. I meant no offense with that comment, it was just my point of view according to my personal experience. Feel free to tell me you didn't like it but don't expect me to be offended by your remark because I'm waaaaay beyond...
    Cheers!

Jajaja, you seem to be very far from being "waaaaay beyond" anything, as you seem more worried in giving your opinion about the spanish people than talking about PJ music in the show. Anyway, if it's like that, I don't know why you go to concerts here in Spain, and if you happen to live here, then, my friend, I'm very sorry for you... Sé feliz!!!
And, as far as I'm concerned, this discussion is finished, I prefer to concentrate on reading opinions about music.

I'm sorry, I didn't give my opinion on PJ's music because, as always, it was amazingly brilliant, and there is nothing I could possibly add. I think this is getting stupid. If you're not mature enough to understand that I meant no offense with my comment, then, there's nothing else I can do. I love Spanish people, they have a lot of beautiful and interesting things. They might not be THE MOST effusive audience, but that doesn't make them better or worst. Just different. If you cannot accept 'different' then you are the one with a problem, my friend, not me... And you're right, this conversation IS over, it's too childish... SI SOY FELIZ!! Te quiero!!!

    God damn right that's nice!!:
I was so jealous to see that PJ (my absolute nr 1 band at the age of 14 - which was in 1992) plays 'brick' from PF (my absolute nr 1 band at this time)...
No misunderstandings please: still a huge fan of PJ and always have been, but I'm still kind of discovering PF's fantastic albums - since a year of three - and totally overwhelmed by their brilliance...

  • Pedazo de concierto, oiga. Sin ganas que tenía.

Mmm... Maybe the better thing you can do is to watch it by tourself in youtube, and then speak about the spanish audience. I´ve read about a lot of bands talking about the spanish audience, and all of them say the same thing, spanish audience is effusive and a bit cracy. Ask to Radiohead in Las ventas last year, or to Iggy in Dr. Music ´98... lol.
