We're backed up enough off of the coast to miss it, though the last day or so the weather hasn't been too great.

    Stay cozy and safe, Josevolution!

Stay safe in the Northeast, my friends.

Meanwhile, the last few days have been in the mid to upper 50's with sunshine here in the Portland area. Like springtime. Weird.

So my boss says if someone can come in the afternoon tomorrow maybe we can see some emergency patients...we all laughed at him...I don't think anyone is going through 2 feet to 30 inches of snow to "maybe see some emergency patients" tomorrow :))

Ready to watch some late night tennis tonight and hope I don't lose power!

20C here in Sydney this morning. It is also shitting it down with rain, the roads are flooded and the roof of my office is leaking. The rhythmic drip, drip, drip into the bucket by the window is getting hypnotic...

i have a question if someone would so politely answer please :)

when there is a blizzard or great downpour of snow and people are unable to travel
what happens with work ?? do you still get paid for days off and does work just stop for everybody??
where do you get the money to survive if you dont get paid on the days you get stuck at home
because of bad weather, and how big does the problem get ??

thanks in advance, i was just wondering thats all, bc over here we dont work we dont get paid no matter what so we would suffer and im thinking that would be unfair in your cases

It depends entirely on the job. Most people who are on hourly wage won't get paid if the weather shuts down their job. Salary workers are usually given vacation and/or sick days so if the business doesn't want to pay for the day they can use one of their vacation days.

Yesterday I was in Wiesbaden near Frankfurt where I saw a beautiful (beginning) flowered almond tree being cold under a dark sky with snowflakes falling down slowly....

so weird- we maybe will have another 3 month of cold winter here...
This shit with varying temperatures just going crazy...!!!

Our full time workers get paid if the boss closes the office. If we leave early on or own decision, or stay home and the office is open we take a sick / vaca or no pay day. Hourly peeps don't get the benefit. In fairness, we don't get personal days where I work and we only get paid the major holidays (exception is Presidents Day) so we don't get a lot of benefits IMO...but I love my job, and the people I work with.

^^^ noisy frikken frogs made me laugh! At least you can be comforted by the fact that the presence of frogs indicates you live in a healthy ecosystem

Beautiful! Sunny and warm for winter - like 9C. I can hang out on my balcony at night without a coat and go for walks in flip flops lately. Crazy.
