Just got in from an evening bike ride on the boardwalk.
Besides the waves breaking , it's eerily quiet out there.
Plenty of surfers gobbling up the shorebreakers,
& oh yeah-- much of the beach is gone already.
The bulldozers are attempting to push sand up into little mountains as a barrier,
    but its futile.
As fast as they push up the barriers,
the surf breaks them down and washes them away.

Here in Rockaway, becasue of our location, we are powered by LIPA.

    just great
Meanwhile, the Long Island Power Authority has advised customers to be prepared for outages that could last seven to 10 days. The company has set up a Web site with information.

LIPA advises that customers might not see restoration crews working in their neighborhoods right away after the storm, but crews will perform damage surveys as soon afterward as possible.

LIPA customers are asked to pre-register their cell phones so they can report outages and receive restoration via text. To register, LIPA says, customers should text REG to 695472 (myLIPA), and to report an outage, customers should text OUT to the same number.
LIPA customers without power can also call (800) 490-0075.

The size of Sandy might be due to the fact
that she's actually a hybrid storm,
    a Hurricane and a Nor-Easter thrown into 1.
    We are in trouble !

Those barries would be fun to ride over with my jeep

Is this storm gonna be bad, yes
Is the media overhyping this, yes
Does everyone need to panic, no

Everyone just needs to stay safe and ride it out. If the power goes out so be it. You light a candle or just sleep. I don't know why people are stocking up on goods cause once the power goes out your goods are fucked. Also if you have a generator shut it off at night so you don't piss off your neighbors and you'll save alota gas in the generator.

you obviously don't have to worry about getting from brooklyn to nyc monday morning for work if their is no mass transit..and then being stuck in nyc after work
and you must not have a house near the ocean

so yes iam uptight and the media is not overhyping this..not looking to argue but you don't seem to have much to worry about...which is very lucky

Yes I don't have much to worry bout cept the power going out again and eating very minimal food or taking cold showers. I'm already banking on it going out again for 5 days or longer. Least this storm isn't hitting us few days before PJ21 like it did last year before PJ20. Everything in my runs on electricity. I hate to start shit with you jay or get into your personal life, but can't you take sick days or off days??? Also I'd find it surprising if your work was open.
