Just watched a vid boot of the Philly 3, '09 show, and envy those who were there. :)

Nuff said. Best musical experience of my life.

Best moment/performance of a PJ show? Release - PJ20, Alpine Valley Night 1.

    ^^^THIS^^^
But I've gotta pick the WHOLE WEEKEND :D:D
From the Friday afternoon ticket pick-up timed so we got to hear the soundcheck...the AMAZING Pre-party at Hemingways...2 AWESOME shows...RELEASE & WASH openers...The Temple of the Dog sets...10 Club Park...the PJ Museum...BUT MOST OF ALL...the INCREDIBLE FRIENDS that I made there!!!

The whole PJ20 weekend will ALWAYS be the BEST (UNLESS we get a 3-night run at The Gorge in 2013!!) in my book!! :ugeek:

In my opinion this was the best Philly show, even better than any of the 4 spectrum shows. Strong performance and awesome set-list... Opened with wash, throw in some satans bed,garden,whipping,porch...I remember the night like it was yesterday.
    Best Philly show ever?

    Not even close.

    :nono:

    To each his own.

I had the shittiest seats in the house top row, very top row touching the wall and behind the stage. We only seen the front of eddie whenever he decided to turn around to us unlucky bastards and yet I just remember thinking how lucky I was to be there especially during certain songs ...each show is special in its own way but this one stands out to me.

I agree the 5/28/06 show was fantastic, but you may be confusing two shows. That show was at Camden's ampitheater so there was no behind the stage seating.

Are you talking about the 4/28/03 show at the Spectrum? Now that show was one of my top 3 ever.
And so you see, I have come to doubt

Edit: I believe you are talking about the '05 show at the Wachovia Center. They opened with Wash. Thats what we are talking about, and there was seating behind the stage.

  • Amsterdam 2..

the best performance of the band i ever saw...

Berlin 10,Athens 06,PJ20 - Alpine weekend, Toronto 1, was so special for other reasons..

but the best thing i ever saw from this band, was Amsterdam 2...

I can imagine. I just posted a whole thread about how astonishing the set list is-- but it's not just the setlist-- even on the boot there's just something mind-blowing going on with what they DID with that setlist. :o

    Philadelphia - 10/3/05

Check this out: Wash, Brain of J, Sad, Alone, Faithfull, Whipping, Leatherman, Nothingman, Bleed for Me, Blood, Around the Bend, Harvest Moon, Hard to Imagine, Crown of Thorns, In My Tree, Sonic Reducer, Little Sister, Leaving' Here

This was one of the first shows I had attended where the setlist was truly out of control. A perfect combination of energy from the band, energy from the crowd, and a setlist that matched the occasion.

Honorable Mentions: Champaign 2003 (great vibe), Chicago II 2009 (seats were as far from the band as I have ever been and was able to just focus on the music - was great), Columbia 2008

If I had to absolutely choose one show I think I'd have to go with The Vic. It was my first time in the US, I flew in from Sydney on the day of the show, without a ticket, initially to go to Lollapalooza and ended up with a Vic ticket through sheer dumb luck.

There are so many reasons for choosing this show but I can probably sum it up in 4 words:

    Opener: All... Or... None.

Other shows which are right at the top for me would be:

The Astoria 06 and Shepherd's Bush 09 (along with The Vic, these make up my personal Trilogy of small club shows), Newcastle 06 (the Mark Richards setlist) and Cardiff 2000 (their only show in Wales and NAIS as an opener)
    “Do not postpone happiness”
    (Jeff Tweedy, Sydney 2007)

“Put yer good money on the sunrise”
    (Tim Rogers)

    Toronto 1, 2011.

Just an epic show, topped off with Uncle Neil.

    Close, but no cigar:

    MSG2 (2010)
    Shepherd's Bush (2009)
    Adelaide (2009)

Too early to compare the Euro 2012 shows IMO, but Oslo, Berlin 2 and Amsterdam 2 are up there. Probably in that order.
