(CNN) -- A Texas mother of five is expected to be sentenced Tuesday after admitting to gluing her 2-year-old daughter to a wall and beating her over potty training.

    Years ago a friend who'd had a long career in Child Protective Services told me that most physical abuse of children revolves around potty training or feeding. Parents with little knowledge of child development have unrealistic expectations of how their children should behave, even as infants.

    What's scary (among other things) is that this wasn't the woman's first child. Children are not toys you can bat around when you're angry. Taking out your frustration on a helpless child is horrible.
