Me? I'm an independent for Obama.
    same.

 Who was the last Republican any of you voted for? I don't agree with PoD very often, but his simple No was the right answer (at least on AMT).

I love all these folks that claim to be independent. If you vote Democrat or Republican 90% of the time, you are that party. What you register as is irrelevant. You are what you vote.
Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.

by whose rules? the ones you just made up???

i am a liberal. why would i ever vote for a republican? especially today's tea party republican party??

    seriously, why??

"Well, you tell him that I don't talk to suckas."
  • not entirely sure I would agree that "you are what you vote."

I vote for Arnold Schwarzenegger who I think is... a Republican sometimes.

In Canada I voted for a progressive conservative once. Went back and forth between Liberal and New Democrat and once I voted for a Green Party member and once for an independent.

But Mitt Romney has shown that he will say/do anything to get elected and he uses the same creepy tone that I assume was used by all those shady mortgage brokers who sold people houses he knew they couldn't afford in 2006. While I'm not 100% happy with the job that the president has done... being 100% happy with the job a president has done would be impossible.

I also know that he's got no spine. He has allowed himself to be bullied by every extreme right-wing group in existence. And he'll be even worse as president. And we all know that.

Some of us just aren't saying it.

So, we agree. Folks aren't as "independent" as they'd like to make themselves out to be on a (mostly) anonymous message board (myself included).

Independent, have not been undecided at any point in this election cycle, and will again vote for Obama.

Now Brown or Warren in the Massachusetts senate race, that one has me confused. I go back and forth. :|

No, you don't agree. Gimmie said he is a liberal and he clearly stated his voting intentions and the reasons for them.
Your posts on this thread are simply: "I am right, you are wrong, and I know everything about people who claim to be Independents."

I responded to you earlier in saying that I am registered Independent, but have voted Rep in local races.
It seems that if I said I was Independent and voting for Romney, it would be accepted.

I don't care. It's your business. I just want folks to be honest with themselves. I don't know why folks come on and say they are Independent when numerous posts would contradict that admission.

It's obvious that you are voting for Romney. So, if these Independents who are, in your view, full of shit, were voting for Romney, would you be calling them out for their insincerity?

Independents, like Dems or Repubs, have to make a choice; so, if one candidate is more inline with their views, then that is who they choose. But, it seems that you have a problem with this because they are not settling on your guy.

Independent. Until 2012 when I became a Ron Paul republican.

I'm debating between writing in Ron Paul or voting Gary Johnson.

I've voted Clinton Clinton gore Kerry Obama.

If I had known better as a 20 something I probably would have gone Nader.

    Both parties are disgusting.

Yes, I would. Because my supposition isn't based on who they are picking. It's based on a consistency in other postings of their views. Maybe, they don't realize they're Democrat or Republican. ;) Again, I don't really care who you vote for. It's of no importance. I am just speculationg that folks are not as "Indpendent" as they let on. But, hey. I've been wrong before...

Okie. Then still not Indpedent. Sounds Anti-Republican to me... :D

I will stop after this post on this topic, but my point is - you don't get to label yourself one thing or another. You are what you are. I can't say I'm blonde and that make it true even though I'm bald. I'm bald. That's it. No matter what I say, I'm still bald.

For some reason folks think being "Independent" is a badge. But, when you espouse liberal thinking and vote consistently for Democrats, you are a Democrat. No matter how much of an "Independent" you'd like to be. If you hate the Republicans and consistently vote against them, you are either Democrat or Anti-Republican. But, you are most certainly not an Independent. As a matter of fact, by registering Independent, you are actually missing out on SELECTING the candidate for the party you most closely affiliate. You want a better Republican (Democrat) candidate? Register Republican (Democrat) so you can vote in the primary/participate in the caucus.

(And BTW, Independent does not = free thinker, which I think is why most folks want to label themselves as such. But, whatever. I'm sure there are folks that are truly Independent. But it's less than those that claim to be.)

It does sound anti-Republican, yes. But I would argue that does not necessarily make someone a Democrat. There are far more of us that are disenchanted with the current direction of the GOP than we are enamored with the Democrats. In my own case, every time I consider voting for a Republican I have to question what master that person will follow in Washington. If Obama wins reelection and the GOP controls congress I believe wholeheartedly we will see them try and impeach him. They did it to Clinton, they will do it to Obama. I will not support that. That does not make a Democrat. Yes, in this environment it does make me anti-Republican. But that is neither my fault nor my problem. The GOP has brought that upon themselves.

Also, I did make the Nader mistake in 2000. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
