Set List

01. Do The Evolution
02. Animal
03. Corduroy

(Ed asks the audience how they are doing and if they are staying warm. He tells them to stay close together. "I guess we thought we were playing someone named Larry's back yard. Well Larry has a big back yard. I hear there are about 50,000 people here. That quantifies as a small town, so this is for you.")

04. Elderly Woman Behind The Counter In A Small Town

(Ed says, "this one wasn't on the set list originally but we are playing it for someone who has to leave early and go to work in the morning. The next song is pretty good too so stick around for that one Mark.")

05. Wishlist
06. Got Some (Mike wanders over to Stone's side for a bit)
07. Unthought Known (Ed's shoe comes off while he is rocking out)

(Members of the U.S. Women's soccer team are in the front row. One of them hands her gold medal to Ed. He thanks them for their contribution and says it is great to have them here. He then acts like he might keep the medal before he gives it back to her.)

08. Given To Fly
09. Even Flow

(Ed says there is a close vote in Washington State about allowing members of the same sex to get married. "This song is for every couple that is in love, Same sex, opposite sex, everyone.")

10. Just Breathe
11. Down
12. Green Disease
13. Black
14. Once

(Ed talks about the Wounded Warriors organization and ask the audience to see if there is anything they can do to help the soldiers and the organization.)

15. Come Back
16. Porch (during Porch Ed goes down to the ground and interacts with people behind the barricade)

Encore Break

(Ed thanks the people who put on the show for having them and reminds the audience to stick around after Pearl Jam leaves and see X. One of the great American bands. A women in the audience shouts 'I love you Ed.' He says, "That's very nice of you to say. You can show it by singing the next song.")

17. Better Man (during the sing a long part at the top Ed, laughing, says to someone, "You should stop. Seriously, quit while you are ahead." Ed starts to sing and mutters, "You are screwing me up.")

18. Alive
19. Baba O'Riley-(Townshend) (during the guitar intro Ed tells the crowd they have been great. "a lot of faces I'll remember.")

    It was a fantastic night.

I went with my runnin' crew from Montana (which includes RYZEup ... (btw, she was runnin' a fever of 102 earlier in the day and she rocked her ass off all the way through X ... what a freakin' trooper)) ... we were on the first shuttles over to the venue ... ran to the rail ... only to see that there was a VIP section blocked for the the Deloitte sponsors, about 10-12 rows. Eh, whatever, 10 rows back is better than no show.

Kings of Leon ... started bold with some of the older tunes, Mollys Chambers and Taper Jean Girl come to mind. then it was about 7 straight slow songs that just sucked the life out of the joint. By the time they started playing better tunes, such as Knocked Up ... they had lost me.

Then Ed came out and we were all thinking Slow Night So Long ... but, we got The Bucket. Didn't feature Ed as much as SNSL ... but, still cool. Then back to the shitshow, the ladies went berzerk over Sex on Fire ... Black Thumbnail to close ... and whew, done ... bring on PJ.

Have to admit, I was the debbie downer stating they would mail it in and just play 2/3 of the Missoula setlist ... thankfully, they proved me wrong!

Do The Evolution to start was brilliant as an opener ... it also got 3 lingering old folks off the rail with a quickness, which I appreciated.

Given To Fly was dedicated to the US Women's Soccer team ... three of the ladies were in attendance (Abby Wambach, Alex Morgan, and Kelley O'Hara) ... sadly, they only tweeted KOL pics ... https://twitter.com/AbbyWambach/status/ ... to/1/large
    https://pbs.twimg.com/media/A4VqTR5CcAA5Ehi.jpg

Ed had an exchange during Better Man with someone in the VIP section (perhaps one of the soccer ladies?) ... he basically told someone, jokingly mind you, they should stop singing ... "No really, quit ... while your ... ahead." ... again, said with jest.

Mike came over to our side of the stage a few times, but you could see he was a bit perturbed with the lack of interest in the VIP section (well, duh). 95% of those VIP fuckers were lame as shit. Their flashing, light bright, blue fedoras will haunt my dreams.

At one point (perhaps Even Flow (EDIT - guess this was Porch)) ... Ed jumped down and was trying to high five all the folks in the front row of the non VIP section ... got within 10-15 feet of center stage but then security shut it down and made him go back up on stage ... so close to a high five, but it was appreciated the he knew the folks that loved PJ most were just beyond the VIP section.

Green Disease was brilliantly placed within the set. A little joke for us PJ fans. Ed did state they were "getting paid" but said it was to fund other charitable projects the band supports (Perhaps making up for scoring a goose egg for the Montana Tester show? ) He did give a shout out to the Wounded Warrior program ... so, hopefully they saw a little action from tonight's proceeds as well.

Anyway ... got a lot of hits, but they were the great rockers we didn't get in Montana (Porch, Once, Down ... got Black as well) Super stoked that I was fortunate enough to go ... but, really wish they'd play a proper, FULL set here in San Francisco ... again, not since 2006.

X was the cherry on top ... slashing though songs as they only had an hour ... I felt like I was a punching bag of awesome. Capped off by Ed coming out for Devil Doll.

Gorgeous night, great music, free booze and grub ... and best of all ... my bay area PJ friends who rock my damn face off ... love all you fuckers to bits.

I find it fascinating that a representative from the band is soliciting "Fan"views for a show that was never about the fans. I find it even more fascinating that this is the first "official" mention of the show by a representative of the band. If the band wanted "Fan"views of the show, maybe they should have ensured that more fans were able to go.

My big problem is that I paid a few bucks to some dude whose company sent him to go to the conference, he had no interest in seeing Pearl Jam, and just pocketed the cash.

Would have preferred if PJ released say, 500 - 1,000 tickets and the money I spent buying a ticket, that money went to a charitable cause.

Here's hoping the Oracle money they received goes to good use, as they stated.

Got in for free! Thank you Oracle and customers!!

Many conference attendees were leaving town before the concert, so they were more than happy to help out PJ fans with passes. No charge, big smiles. Extra big thanks to Red Mosqito for his passes that allowed us great position to ask for extras.

    By the beard of Zeus!!!

I guess first row of the non-VIP section was far better than I thought.

The masses, oh my ... and this doesn't include the enormous sets of bleachers that were in the back as well ... didn't see how full those were during PJ.

It was a pretty damn good show. I wasn't expecting much from the crowd, but where I was, there were a lot of fans. I didn't realize there was a special pit area and as I kept trying to get closer after KoL (who suck, btw) I hit a wall of people. Didn't know until after PJ that I was only about 5 rows from the barrier behind the VIP pit. No wonder it was so crowded there!

Show was great. PJ played very well and put out for the crowd. I felt really lucky to get to be there, especially since I had no idea I'd be going until about 1:00 yesterday. Thought for sure that I'd miss X as I didn't get there till about 9:00, but they had KoL start and then X finish, to about maybe 500 people. They got rid of the barriers before X started, so everyone could get up front. They rocked. I am a big fan, but haven't seen them since 1998, so I was stoked.

I live in Berkeley and drove there. Got there in 15 minutes including parking and home just as fast. Thank goodness for that as I was really tired by 1am!

Glad all the tried got in and even for free.

Hope we get some real PJ shows in the area soon.

I was able to get into the show last night and I must say it pretty much lived up to the expectations I had for it being a corporate event and all. After attending Missoula I knew this show wouldn't be on the same level largely due to the fact that most of the people in attendance wouldn't even know who Pearl Jam was or any music past Ten. Plus I knew that PJ wouldn't play a full set that we're typically used to seeing from them.

With those thoughts in mind I still thought the show was pretty damn good and overall I had a fun time. I got to meet some new PJ friends, witness a solid set delivered by the band and witnessed my first Green Disease in almost 10 years (6/6/2003). I thought the song was fitting for the night even though only a few of us in the crowd really understood the joke behind the song. And you can bet your last dollar I screamed the G R E E D part at the top of my lungs too! :D:mrgreen:

I spent half of the show up pretty close to the front and had a few people around me singing along to a bunch of the songs which made it all the more enjoyable. After Even Flow I headed out of the crowd and posted myself in the bleachers next to edwho and watched (as well as sang!) the remainder of the set from there. I could tell one lady was amazed that I knew every song as I noticed her constantly staring at me out of the corner of my eye.

There were two moments during the show from my perspective where it looked like Ed was thinking to himself "I'll never do one of these shows ever again". The first moment was when someone tossed what looked like one of those glow in the dark hats at Ed and it hit him in the chest but he just laughed it off. The second moment was during Better Man when the crowd usually takes over singing the song, but this time the crowd sing along was pretty much non existent for the obvious reasons.

Overall I'm glad i went and I'm glad i was able to help a few fellow 10c members get passes to this show. I mean who can really complain about seeing PJ on a nice night up in the city with free booze and food to top it all off?!

I agree with RM, you could see a few times when the guys would look at each other with a smirk on their face like wtf are we doing playing this gig. Mike seemed to be trying to make the best of it too and was just kind of laughing and shrugging his shoulders. I don't think you'll see them do something like this again any time soon. Green disease from this show should be next year's 10club single, lol :)

Watching Ed try and get something out of this conference audience, I couldn’t help but think about the Vancouver show last year. Sometimes you just have to work a little harder for your money and expectations.

Hey Red Mosquito- I think you were standing next to me until Even Flow. You were telling me about going to the Montana show. I was thinking during DTE that I was glad to be next to someone who is a real fan. I figured you'd seen way too many Even Flow's and decided it was a piss break. Figured you'd come back. Glad you had fun at the back and enjoyed X as well.

  • OK I guess I can re-post this here,

So this is only my second PJ concert (first time was in vienna 2006, such long time ago). I must say I was happy to see that the guys, although they felt the need to sort of apologize every once in a while for doing this kind of a show, put in their usual 1000%, and the show was just awesome! I loved the setlist, carefully chosen..
I don't know any of you guys, but I guess I could feel your presence around me, there were definitely some pearl jam fans in the crowed.

I too hated the blue hat section that was right in front of me (I was on the rail front and center. How can people eat drink and talk with their BACKS to the stage is just beyond me. How Eddie would sing his heart out and these guys would not give a...

But on a positive note I can say I've seen some people converted, meaning, stated off being bored and stuffing their faces, and ending up blown away by that pure energy. Well done.

I'm so wishing for a CA tour soon. I need to see them with a real crowed next time. Still happy I went - although funnily enough I discovered the tickets I paid for were fake half way through the show :)

Right on, I do remember you! I was toying with the idea of going back but thought it would be too much hassle to weave my way through the crowd again. I had a good time in the crowd and it was nice being around people like yourself who knew PJ's music. I just figured that I couldn't get up any further at that point and there were two twin tower dudes who I could barely see over so just decided to cut out and relax in the back.

Good meeting you and maybe we'll see each other at another corporate event!

I think I remember you passing us!

Right on, RM. It was a bit crowded and hard to see over the tall dudes, but the sound was good there and we had some fans near us, so all good. I really expected to get right up front after KoL as I assumed it would clear out a bit between acts. Oh well. No real complaints. Bonus PJ show. I just figured out this was my 10th show since '95, not counting the half dozen Bridge show performances. First since the last LA show in 2009, so I was hyped to see them, even with at this event.
